The great “reformer” of the Muscovite Church, and also its greatest robber, was the Czar, Ivan the Terrible; and according to him the foulest error of the “Western heretics” was the shaving of the beard. In an edict which this Head of the “Orthodox” Church issued in 1551, being unaware that another Russian Supreme Pontiff, the “great” Peter, would one day enact the contrary, he proclaimed that “the effusion of a martyr’s blood would not atone for this crime.” [Of shaving the beard.]

The same author must have remembered that in the seventeenth century the ecclesiastical Academy of Kiev, speaking through Lazarus Baranowitch, Bishop of Tchernigow, regarded that doctrine as indubitably true;9 and we can scarcely imagine that the Academy could have deemed otherwise when it was accustomed to hear, among other and innumerable evidences furnished by the Russian Liturgy, that passage of the Office for the Nativity of the Virgin:
"We proclaim and celebrate thy birth, and we honor thy Immaculate Conception.”

And the Lutheran was able to support his assertion by quoting the text of the Catechism which had been compiled by the “Orthodox” bishop, Theopanes Procopowitch, the prelate whom Peter “the Great” had employed to draw up his “Ecclesiastical Regulation.” In this Catechism, declared Lütiens,
“we find the purest Evangelical doctrine on the forgiveness of sin, on justification, and on the eternal salvation which is attained by faith in Jesus Christ alone.”

☦️ 🍞 🕊️ St. Paisios of Mt. Athos about the communists and their "food distribution":
Personally, if the communists weren't atheist, if they didn't hunt Christ, I would agree with them. It's good for the plots of land, the factories, to belong to everyone; not for one to be hungry while someone else is throwing away food. If material goods are not distributed with the Gospel, in the end they will be distributed with the knife.— St. Paisios of Mt. Athos

In Belarus, a Catholic priest was sentenced to 11 years for "treason":
On December 30, the Minsk Regional Court issued a verdict in the case of the rector of the Catholic parish in Volozhin, priest Genrikh Okolotovich. The 64-year-old rector, who has serious illnesses, was sentenced to 11 years in a maximum security penal on charges of "treason". Believers also learned that neither the metropolitan, nor other bishops, nor priests, nor the secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature came to the verdict: "The fear is greater than in the 1930s. Then, there was probably more solidarity."
After his arrest, he spent more than a year in the KGB pretrial detention center. During all this time, no information about the case has appeared. What exactly the priest is accused of remains unknown even now - the trial was held behind closed doors.

St. Robert Bellarmine and Avvakum Petrov both believed that Constantinople fell because of their schism and heresy. Albeit for completely different reasons.
For Avvakum Petrov, Constantinople fell because they united themselves to the renegades. This is literally the opposite thesis of Bellarmine.
again: Deign to listen to me, join the ecumenicals, more or less." And I said: "Let me die, if it pleases God, I will not unite with renegades! You are my tsar, but what have they to do with you? They have lost their own tsar 4, and it is to devour you too that they have come here. I will not lower my arms raised to heaven until God has returned you to me. >>> There were many of these messages 5. There was talk of this and that. The last word was: Wherever you are, do not forget us in your prayers! "Today still, a sinner, as long as I can, I pray to God for him.
