Of relics, miracles, and veneration of saints.

The enemy of the human race has such snares that he can often lead the simple and pious faithful of Christ into error with false miracles and illusions. For this reason the Holy Synod decrees that no new miracles shall be admitted after this unless they have been properly tested and examined by the bishops.

The relics of the Saints, which were once the temple of the Holy Spirit and the living members of Christ, although the Synod declares that they are to be venerated and decently kept in the churches with great reverence: nevertheless, lest those should be forced into worship, the identity of which is either doubtful or not at all certain, the bishops should make a careful inquiry in the act of visitation and then decide what they judge to be consistent with truth and piety 2.
