🇺🇸 Assembly of Bishops Joins Other Christians in Filing Amicus Brief in Major Abortion Case before the U.S. Supreme Court

The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America has consistently and unequivocally recognized the full humanity of every person beginning at the moment of conception. This position is informed by Scripture and Holy Tradition and is validated by modern science, which confirms that a new, distinct human organism comes into existence at conception.

The United States Supreme Court will soon hear a major case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which challenges the precedent set by Roe v. Wade that legalized the abortion of unborn children nationwide. The Assembly of Bishops is pleased to announce that, together with other Christians, including the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, it is joining an amicus (“friend of the Court”) brief advocating on behalf of these unborn children before the U.S. Supreme Court. The brief argues that, among other things, these unborn children “are our family, our brothers and sisters. Like all members of the human family, they should be treasured and loved.”

🇦🇺 St Anthony’s Orthodox Church in Sunshine falls victim to a break in

The parish of St Anthony’s Orthodox Church in Sunshine is in turmoil, after burglars invaded the church site on Monday night.

The perpetrators broke into the side door of the church and stole money as well as valuable religious objects.

“On Tuesday morning I went to open the church and saw the left door open. Then my eyes went to the Royal Doors, which were also open and I saw all things thrown away and turned upside down,” Archimandrite Father Synesios Frangos told Neos Kosmos.

“They stole the holy relics and the holy breadbasket with which we transport holy communion to the hospitals, they broke the bar and the boxes we use to collect money for the poor and stole all the money, everything.”

🇬🇪 Prominent Orthodox Christian anti-LGBT activist and leader of the right-wing ERI party in Georgia, Levan Vasadze, was yesterday diagnosed by Russian doctors with a rare bone marrow disease.

Vasadze: "Currently my disease is called type AL amyloidosis. It occurs in the bone marrow and causes the release of toxic proteins that accumulate in various organs and are life-threatening. For now, only my heart is damaged."

Please keep him in your prayers. His new political party will be competing in the upcoming local elections in Georgia, set for October 2.

There is a good chance he was poisoned or some kind of radiation weapon was used on him. The disease is very rare, 2 in a 1 000 000 and if his second diagnosis is confirmed its even rarer, if I'm not mistaken. He was doing fine, was a healthy, active individual, didn't drink or smoke, even played Rugby on practices with his owned pro team sometimes. His health got worse as he announced on 6th of may that he was finally starting a political movement ERI and going into politics.

To be clear, his party is probably not going to be competing in the upcoming elections, ERI is a movement for now, waiting to be transformed into the political party.

🇬🇷 Wildfires force evacuation of monastery on Greek island of Evia

As the wildfire that broke out yesterday continues to rage across the Greek island of Evia, the monks of the famous St. David of Evia Monastery have been ordered to take shelter elsewhere.

The monastery was home to the famous 20th-century elder St. Iakovos of Evia who was canonized in late 2017.

“We’re drowning in smoke,” Abbot Gabriel says. About 20,000 acres and dozens of houses have been reduced to ashes so far.

Orthodox Christian monarchies would have dealt with such barbarian scum by giving them the rope. The fact that capital punishment today is considered a breach of "human rights" shows us just how far we've gone downhill since the advent of widespread atheism in the West.

Please pray for the grandmother's soul, apparently she was a very friendly woman who played an active role in her local community and was loved by many.

🇷🇴 Patriarch Daniel: All socio-medical care is of Christian origin

In his last Sunday’s sermon, Patriarch Daniel recalled that the first medical institutions, both in Romania and Europe, were established by the Church. His Beatitude highlighted that the palliative care specific to the Church also involves prayer in addition to the medical act.

“The first monastery hospitals (bolnițe), the first hospitals and pharmacies in Romania and, in general, in Orthodox countries were established by the Church.”

“In each of these settlements, prayer was united with medical science – prayer, as help received from God, with the wisdom of those who were called to perform this medical service,” His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel noted at the Chapel of Saint George at the Patriarchal Residence.

🇺🇦 Ukraine’s Parliament to consider bill abolishing anti-Orthodox discrimination

A bill calling for the repeal of the discriminatory laws against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been officially registered in the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament).

During Poroshenko’s time as head of state, several laws were put into place that attempt to provide a legal foundation for schismatics to seize churches and territories from the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church and to force the renaming of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church into the “Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine”—thereby attempting to paint the Church as but an arm of the “aggressor state,” as Ukraine considers Russia.

On July 30, the Rada registered draft law No. 5835, “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Concerning the Activities of Religious Organizations and Ensuring the Constitutional Right of Citizens to Freedom of Worldview and Religion,” which aims to undo the state-sanctioned persecution, reports the Information-Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
