ACA has 5 areas of concern about the 2024 International Health Regulations.
1. Cost - financial and social
• Does JSCT know how much this will cost Australia? Australia voluntarily gave the WHO $100 on top of Australia’s core contribution of $75 million for 2022-2027.
• The WHO will have power to determine Australia should give money to developing nations.
• There’s been no review about the social costs of Covid lockdowns but we know our children’s education has been effected, elderly are scared and still wear masks, and the social division caused by vaccine mandates created medical apartheid.
• The public health response of the last 5 years occurred under the 2005 IHRs, which are binding on Australia. Those 2005 IHRs allowed the WHO to make recommendations only. Australia voluntarily cooperated with the recommendations. We don’t need a version of the regulations which removes our power to make decisions in the best interests of our people.
