Senator Lee is correct

The Constitution—through Article I, Section 4—empowers Congress to pass the SAVE America Act

The NVRA—which SCOTUS has (wrongly) interpreted to prohibit states from seeking proof of citizenship when registering voters under the NVRA (even when it believes noncitizens are registering)—makes the SAVE America Act necessary

It’s a solution to a distinctively federal problem created by existing federal law—not an infringement on state authority

Accurate

HOLY CRAP!!

Telegram just sent this message to all the users in Spain. The country is on its way to North Korean censorship.

❗️ The government of Pedro Sánchez is promoting new dangerous regulations that threaten your freedoms on the Internet. Announced yesterday, these measures could turn Spain into a surveillance state under the pretext of "protection." Here I explain why they are a red alarm signal for freedom of expression and privacy:

1. Prohibition of social networks for children under 16 years of age with mandatory age verification: This is not just about children - it requires platforms to use strict controls, such as requiring ID or biometrics.

⚠️ Danger: Establish a precedent to track the identity of EACH user, eroding anonymity and opening doors to massive data collection. What begins with minors could be extended to everyone, stifling the open debate.

2. Personal and criminal liability for platform executives: If "illegal, hateful or harmful" content is not quickly removed, those responsible could go to jail.

⚠️ Danger: This will force overcensorship—the platforms will erase anything minimally controversial to avoid risks, silencing political dissent, journalism and everyday opinions. Your voice could be next if you defy the status quo.

3. Criminalization of algorithmic amplification: Amplifying "harmful" content through algorithms becomes a crime.

⚠️ Danger: Governments will dictate what you see, burying opposing opinions and creating state-controlled echo chambers. Free exploration of ideas? Missing—replaced by curated propaganda.

4. Follow-up of the "hateful and polarization": Platforms must monitor and report how they "feed the division."

⚠️ Danger: Vague definitions of "hate" could label criticism of the government as divisive, leading to closures or fines. This can be a tool to suppress the opposition.

These are not safeguards; they are steps towards total control. We have seen this noscript before—governments arming "security" to censor their critics. At Telegram, we prioritize your privacy and freedom: strong encryption, no backdoors and resistance to excess.

Stay vigilant, Spain. Demand transparency and fight for your rights. Share this widely—before it's too late

RT @Teslaconomics: FCC has formally accepted and is now seeking public comments on the major application from @SpaceX!

This application is seeking approval of launching a massive new constellation of up to 1 million satellites in low Earth orbit, which would function as orbital data centers.

The FCC is now welcoming comments on the application, with a comment deadline around early March 2026.

RT @SawyerMerritt: Starlink Wi-Fi review on United Airlines:

"If I weren't buckled into a seat, I might not have noticed that I was using in-flight Wi-Fi. When it came to working on my laptop and streaming movies on my phone and tablet, I could have been on my broadband at home.

The hardware that makes this happen is a pair of low-profile 500Mbps antennas mounted on the top of the fuselage (pic below). This experience was a demonstration flight on United's first mainline Boeing 737-800 aircraft to be outfitted with the new satellite hardware.

Two experiences stood out when I was on the Starlink-equipped plane. First, it operates gate-to-gate, so you can connect on your phone or tablet (laptops still need to be put away during takeoff) as soon as you get settled in your seat. After we'd landed and were taxiing back to the gate, I forgot that I was still connected through Starlink.

For almost as long as I've owned a cellphone, wheels-down meant it's time to switch off Airplane mode and embrace the familiar connection of local cellular.

Second, the few sign-on steps I had to go through weren't any more onerous than getting on a public cafe or hotel Wi-Fi network. After connecting to the United Wi-FI network, a portal window opened with a trio of screens explaining how great the new service is (you can skip them) and a field to enter my United MileagePlus account and password."

RT @SawyerMerritt: UPDATE: The FCC has accepted SpaceX’s filing for a new non-geostationary orbit (NGSO) system of up to one million satellites, and is now seeking comments.

“This satellite system will represent the first step towards becoming a Kardashev II-level civilization - one that can harness the Sun's full power," according to SpaceX.

BREAKING: SpaceX is requesting to launch and operate a constellation of 1 million satellites with unprecedented computing capacity (orbital data centers) to power advanced AI, according to a new FCC filing.

SpaceX: "Launching a million satellites that operate as orbital data centers is a first step towards becoming a Kardashev II-level civilization—one that can harness the Sun's full power-while supporting Al-driven applications for billions of people today and ensuring humanity's multi-planetary future amongst the stars."

In the SpaceX filing:
• SpaceX aims to deploy a system of up to one million satellites to operate within narrow orbital shells spanning up to 50 km each (leaving sufficient room to deconflict against other systems with comparable
ambitions).
• System will operate between 500 km and 2,000 km altitude and 30 degrees and sun-synchronous orbit inclinations.
• SpaceX plans to design and operate different versions of satellite hardware to optimize operations across orbital shells.
• System will rely nearly exclusively on high-bandwidth optical links for communications. These optical links will route traffic within the network and to satellites in the Starlink constellation, via its high capacity (petabit) and high reliability laser mesh, which in turn will transmit traffic to authorized earth stations on the ground.

SpaceX added: "With Starship's ability to deliver unprecedented tonnage to orbit for AI compute, the capacity for intelligence processing in space could surpass the electricity consumption of the entire U.S. economy, without the immense cost and disruption of rebuilding Earth's strained electrical grid to support the explosive demand for data centers. In turn, satellites that function as solar-powered orbital data centers are the most cost-effective, energy-efficient, and environmentally sound way to build infrastructure to meet accelerating demand for Al-enabled goods and services.

With the inherent efficiencies of deploying solar powered data centers and launch cost rapidly decreasing due to the development of the Starship launch vehicle, SpaceX will be able to cost- effectively scale up its constellation as demand increases and compute evolves. For instance, launching 1 million tonnes per year of satellites generating 100 kW of compute power per tonne would add 100 gigawatts of AI compute capacity annually, with minimal ongoing operational or maintenance needs."

RT @JessePeltan: NYC would be a net *exporter* of electricity if you covered roofs and parking lots.

How much of NYC would you need to cover in solar panels to turn it into a net exporter of electricity?

NYC uses about 50 TWh of electricity per year.

NYC has ~780 square kilometers of land area, and a GHI of 4 kWh/m^2/day, giving a primary solar resource of ~1,100 TWh/year - more than 20x electricity demand.

Let's assume we only place panels over existing impervious surfaces on buildings and parking lots.
(the impervious part of the first 45.5%)

That brings our area to 261 sq km and our solar resource to 380 TWh/year.

With 23% efficient panels and 14% system losses (for dust, inverter losses, etc.) we get 75 TWh/year.

We would need to cover ~2/3 of the impervious surfaces in the "buildings & lots" category to generate as much electricity as NYC consumes.

This leaves open all existing sidewalks, streets, parks, vacant land, airports, etc. and doesn't include any vertical surfaces which could allow for capture of a larger fraction of NYC's primary solar resource.

The power density of solar PV is high enough to turn the densest city in the U.S. into an exporter of electricity.
