📑Short News Story

Swedish archaeologists found a shipwreck of a 17th century ship. The name of the ship was Applet, and it was a sister ship of the warship Vasa.

Workers built Vasa in 1628, and unfortunately, it sank on its first journey near Stockholm after it sailed only 900 meters. The ship is 69 meters long and it is the world’s best preserved ship from the 17th century. The same shipbuilder of Vasa also built Applet in 1629.

When divers found the shipwreck, they hoped that it was Applet. A part of the ship sank to the bottom, but the main body remained. Archaeologists decided to leave Applet in the sea because removal was too difficult.

A pedestrian bridge collapsed in India’s state of Gujarat. The bridge had reopened only a week earlier.

Officials said that too many people were on the bridge when it collapsed. They were celebrating the Diwali festival. The bridge collapsed in the river, 141 people died, and many went missing. The incident happened at night, so it was difficult to search for them. Rescuers continued the next morning, and divers searched the dark waters of the river.

The bridge was 230 meters high, and it was very popular with tourists. Local people called it a swinging bridge. Workers built it in the 19th century when India was still under the rule of Great Britain.

📰People trash many clothes/Fast fashion:

Every day, people throw away millions of pieces of clothing. Once they throw them away, they don’t usually think what happens to them. Many clothes from North America, Europe, or Australia go to countries like Ghana or India.

In Ghana, people recycle them; they call them dead White people’s clothes. The amount of clothes is so big that they can’t recycle them all. Around 40% become waste, and they end up in rivers and in the sea. In India, some old clothing become car insulation, mattresses, or cleaning cloths. Even these products become waste one day.

Clothing companies want to make a lot of money, and so they make too many clothes which don’t last very long. The work is called fast fashion. People throw clothes away quickly because they want to buy new ones.
