First, we need to make a clear difference between:
a) suicide wish, because you are elderly and alone
b) suicide wish, due to a serious disease or similar
c) "stupid suicide wish", because something small happen to you and currently you are ashamed or similar (but is more temporary )
d) "suicide wish, due to depression
e) suicide wish, for different reasons, that are not related to depression and can be a mix with b, even if you haven't a terminal disease
f) suicide wish, because you lost job / wife / whatever
g) suicide wish, because you got raped etc.
h) ...

Every type is huge different, but people just consider all that as one!. Especially for c, f (in part a, g) what the girl is saying is in part true, where such people can maybe get help from other. BUT we still need to remember that refusing a wish can increase the risk of doing suicide! (and this means even creating the death or trauma in other people too!)

People in the category b, e and in part g such things help nothing or just in minimal part. These are the categories that our governments should put focus, by providing active / assisted suicide, near abortion

About the type f: for the humanity is suicide not ok, but keeping people homeless on the street in poverty yes. THIS IS A SHAME! How you can consider that better than a dignity end of the life! Yes, there are homeless that get a job maybe after years, but is not the case of all. So if an homeless wants a suicide, he should have the right to get it! instead of continuing a shitty life!

So again, it's time to stop seeing such things as tabu or all type of suicides just as the same!
