How to Water Glass Eggs for Long-Term Storage
Note: To do this you must use farm-fresh eggs that are clean, but unwashed.
- In a jar (or bucket), combine distilled or spring water with food-grade hydrated lime (also known as calcium hydroxide or pickling lime) at a ratio of 1 ounce lime to 1 quart water. Stir until the lime dissolves in the water.
- Place your farm-fresh eggs inside of the jar while making sure that the water covers them entirely. Try to place the eggs with the pointy side down. Securely seal the jar.
- Store away from direct sunlight, anywhere that does not get extremely hot, or extremely cold - room temperature is fine.
