We are a rebel alliance—a decentralized network pledged to anonymous collective action—a breakout from the prisons of our age. We strive to reinvent our lives and our world according to the principles of self-determination and mutual aid.

#Brazil: Epicenter of the Virus of Populism
A Year of Catastrophe and Resistance

https://cwc.im/VirusofPopulism

Anarchists in Brazil examine how the pandemic and rising far-right populism coincide in a colonial extraction economy to produce catastrophe.

What does resistance look like in a society headed for collapse?

Self-organized mutual aid and collective defense projects involving delivery drivers, football fans, Indigenous organizers, squatters, residents of the favelas and the urban periphery, anti-fascists, and other targeted populations may indeed represent our only hope of survival.

Trump sought to suppress anti-fascist movements because he knew they could prevent him from retaining power in a coup.

Tomorrow, the House Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing "on the rise of domestic terrorism"—and they are inviting one of the chief instigators of Trump's efforts to demonize anti-fascism to present his propaganda to them.

If anti-fascists had not prevented fascists from establishing a street movement (https://cwc.im/Berkeley), the crowd that stormed the Capitol on January 6 would have been much bigger.

Democrats are fools to sell out anti-fascists now when the far right aim to try the same thing again. After Biden, when the Republicans attempt Trump 2.0 (probably with a new candidate, but having learned from all their mistakes), anti-fascist organizing will once again be our only hope.

When Democrats crack down on anti-fascists, they are paving the way for fascism.
We mourn the passing of anarchist poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti, who became a pacifist when the Navy sent him to Nagasaki after it was destroyed by an atomic bomb, who published Allen Ginsberg's "Howl" and fought the court case to make it publishable, , who gave his life to what he called "poetry as an insurgent art," who still signals us—to use his words—through the flames.

Here is his "Elegy on the Death of Kenneth Patchen." It is appropriate for remembering Ferlinghetti, too.

Grecia: El Fantasma del Pasado de la Junta Regresa
La Huelga de Hambre de Dimitris Koufontinas

On this day in 2007, Danish police evicted and destroyed Ungdomshuset, a world-famous social center that had served the autonomous and anarchist movements and the punk and squatter subcultures along with other rebel artistic and political communities for decades. Originally a bastion of the Danish labor movement, this building was the place where International Women's Day was proposed in 1910.

You can read the whole story here:
https://cwc.im/Ungdomshuset

The evictees fought back during the eviction and over the years that followed—ultimately forcing the state to give up and let them have another building.

Direct action gets the goods! We will only have as much space to experiment in as we win in open conflict with the state! Freedom requires spaces to practice the art of becoming free together! 🏴

Thousands of Greek anarchists marched in Athens to support the hunger strike or Dimitris Koufontinas, a long term political prisoner asking only to be moved back to the prison closest to his family and legal team. Koufontinas is a convicted member of the November 17th group, a popular armed organization that carried out actions against torturers and beneficiaries of the junta government that was deposed in November 1973.
