7 października Hamas, partia rządząca w Strefie Gazy, przełamała otaczający ją mur oblężniczy i przeprowadziła serię ataków. Izraelski rząd odpowiedział pełną operacją wojskową.
W tym czasie kończyliśmy właśnie wywiad z Jonathanem Pollakiem, anarchistą z Jaffy – palestyńskiego miasta, które do niedawna było w większości arabskie. Jonathan, wieloletni uczestnik Anarchistów Przeciwko Murowi i innych antykolonialnych działań solidarnościowych, jest obecnie skazany na karę więzienia za działalność protestacyjną na początku tego roku. W poniższym wywiadzie opisuje, jak postrzega obecną eskalację. Opisuje również, w jaki sposób izraelski system sądowniczy strukturalnie uciska Palestyńczyków, wyjaśnia, jak wspierać palestyńskich więźniów i ocenia skuteczność działań solidarnościowych na przestrzeni lat.

Four years ago today, a revolt broke out in Chile, wresting control of the streets from the police.
For a month, Santiago and many other parts of Chile were self-organized via a decentralized network of neighborhood assemblies employing a wide array of decision-making structures, each one shaped directly by the participants.

Although the revolt was ultimately trapped in the blind alley of constitutional reform, that illustrates the importance of developing a transformative approach to social change rather than falling back on electoral strategies.

At this point, it's widely understood that Benjamin Netanyahu helped to support the rise of Hamas. “Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas,” Netanyahu said in 2019.
But there is less discussion about how US foreign policy set the stage for the events of October 7, 2023.
In an article published in 2006, we suggested that one way to understand the Bush administration's otherwise incomprehensible decisions in Iraq was to assume that they were not trying to suppress jihadism, but to foster it.
