McLaren gained 0.8s over last year's quali, while Aston lost over 1s!💡

Track conditions were better last year: only 3 teams improved their lap times. 📉
Mercedes was one of them.

Ferrari got no closer to RedBull, yet they qualified better due to others' downfall: P2/P3 Vs P3/P7.👌

🟡VER vs 🔴LEC LAPS

338km/h top speed for both, yet VER gained on all straights: full-throttle earlier out of most corners
LEC sacrificed his exits to brake later: opposite styles.

In the last corner, VER was going 68km/h in THIRD gear: that engine has a lot of torque! (4800rpm).

Teams could change setup after the Sprint:
-Sauber/Aston/Alpine reduced their drag significantly📈
-Merc trimmed their wing slightly: +3km/h➡️Will make attacking 'less impossible'!👌
-McL added load: from 3rd fastest to slowest🛠

🟠Norris’ excellent drive (and some luck!) won him his first race!🏆
🔵VER understeered on Hards: constantly lost to NOR and couldn’t gap LEC on fresher tyres⚠️
⚫️HAM’s best ‘24 race👌

TOP SPEEDS - Miami GP Sprint + Race

Albon reached 361km/h!😳
Williams' low-load wing gave him and Sargeant excellent drag, but little downforce as well.⚠️

💡Verstappen NEVER used the DRS on the main straight in both the Sprint and the Race: 'just' 322km/h at most.

The ‘ideal lap’ (laptime obtained by combining the three purple sectors) was 1:27.075, or 0.166s quicker than Verstappen’s pole!
Still, 0.234s slower than last year's pole📉

As in China, Red Bull made the fastest pits! But how much time did the others lose to them each pit?🤔

-RacingBulls was 2nd best; then, Ferrari and Merc👌
-Aston had room for improvement
-Sauber's slow pit stops continue! Imola will bring a new wheel nut design💡

📈Alonso gained the most places (6) in Miami GP! Unfortunately, his comeback was worth just 2 points (P9).

Norris: P5➡️P1🏆

Good recoveries by:
-TSU (P10➡️P7)
-HAM (P8➡️P6)
-OCO (P13➡️P10)

The Ferrari drivers lost 3 places in total, but still got 25 points.

Norris got P2 in China already, yet the upgrades further improved

Top speed, fast/slower corners, and lap time were all closer to the pole sitter📈

The slow-speed cornering seems to be particularly improved: from a 4km/h gap to a 1km/h edge vs RedBull👌

How much did the upgrades contributed to that? Imola will tell! 👀

RedBull might have lost last year's aero efficiency advantage (downforce/drag) ⚠️

Ferrari lacked upgrades, yet it was 6km/h quicker than RedBull in the faster corner, matching their top speed too. Big updates incoming in Imola.💡

Little drag (and downforce) for Stroll.

Ferrari's Imola upgrades must be worth 0.4s/lap to fight RedBull!💡

Average Gap in 2024:
0.305s/lap in Quali
0.442s/lap in Race

⚠️ A 0.4s/lap gain would be HUGE, yet RedBull will not be standing still in the meantime...

What's your prediction for the remainder of the season?🤔

Norris was quicker than VER even BEFORE the latter sustained floor damage!💡

NOR pushed once in clean air: 0.4s/lap quicker than VE.R🚀
He remained quicker even after VER pitted!😳

After the restart (Lap 32) the match was over, but VER had no edge even before the damage.

The factors that made or might have made Verstappen's pace worse:
- Tyre management (first part of the race);
- Floor damage (second part of the race);
- Sub-optimal setup by RedBull.

Norris' pace advantage for several laps, however, suggests that the updated McL was as quick as RBR.

For telemetry nerds like me, even troubleshooting your Diesel Particulate Filter can be fun!😈

Here is the Intake Absolute Pressure: the maximum should be around 255KPa (100 ambient + 155 turbocharging).

And it was! (3 in-gear accelerations shown).
As the problem was solved, the electronics were finally allowing the turbocharger to use the maximum (and correct) turbo pressure.🔥

In case you wanted to try as well: I used a simple WiFi OBD 2 scanner from Amazon, and the ‘Car Scanner’ iOS free app.

If you have some telemetry acquisition from your car share them! I'm curious.
