🥉🟠As seen in Miami, the updates seem to have solved McLaren’s high drag.

🔴Ferrari didn’t shine, but Mercedes/Alpine/Aston were far worse.

In the last 20 laps, 🟠Norris recovered the gap that 🔵VER gave him in the first 20.

His McL was much more competitive on Hards than Mediums.
Even though NOR pitted one lap sooner and mounted a used set, he gained more and more as the stint progressed (until he was ~1.5s behind).

💡What makes Monaco GP EXTREME:
-Traction crucial + shortest straights➡️Maximum load rear and beam wings.
-Lowest grip, abrasion, tyre stress, and lateral grip demands➡️Softest compounds (C3-C5) will last for ages!

Few people expected Hamilton and Mercedes to lead the standings!💡
However, Ferrari and RedBull didn't use the soft compound⚠️

In FP1, Hamilton (1:12.169) was just 0.804s off last year's pole, and already just 0.444s off his own best lap from last year's qualifying. 📊

MINISECTORS - FP1

🟢HAM had the highest top speed in FP1 (288km/h): he might have been on a slightly higher engine mode, but he also braked very late.

🔴LEC [On Mediums] had the best traction out of the last corner.

🟠PIA was quickest in several corners and chicanes.

💡🔴Leclerc is the clear favourite for pole (crucial for winning the Monaco GP).

Quickest in all sectors:
S1: -0.20s vs HAM
S2: -0.15s vs ALO
S3: -0.09s vs HAM

His FP2 was 0.087s already quicker than last year's pole. His 'Ideal Lap' was 0.361s faster than that!

🟢HAM is looking good, too!

⚠️🟡VER is struggling with setup, again (he complained that he was 'jumping like a kangaroo'): this is becoming a pattern.

TOP SPEEDS FP2 Monaco GP:

RedBull was WAY down on power in their quali simulations!💡
Their top speed was lower than even the lowest one from FP1.📉
The engine deficit was worth ~0.3s vs Ferrari - yet, their setup struggles are real⚠️

Aston, Merc, McL, and Ferrari within 2km/h.

Leclerc gained over Hamilton mostly in the slow corners, finishing 0.188s ahead.⏱

HAM had a worse exit before the tunnel, yet he started ~100m later: his engine mode was higher.💡

Who will be on pole? (and never discount VER!)

The pole improved by over 1s, yet🟢Aston (hit by traffic) was SLOWER than last year!

Most improved team:🟠McL (over 1.8s/lap gained, P10➡️).

Good development by🔴Ferrari and🟢Mercedes, shaving off ~1.2s from an already competitive laptime.

🟡RedBull improved 'just' 0.8s: not enough to keep pole.

Teams Minisectors - Monaco GP

🔴LEC quickest in just 13% of the track (mostly S1), but still very competitive everywhere else: that's how he got pole!

🟢RUS dominated the straights

🟠PIA quickest in several corners: mainly in the slowest section (T5-7) and T10-11 chicane.

-Larger dots: more intense cornering.
-Color: longitudinal acceleration ( 🔴Traction, 🔵Braking).

Good traction required in the (downhill) Hotel section.🛞

LEC won the Monaco GP...lapping over EIGHT seconds per lap slower than in quali$ 😳

HAM was quickest, and 0.04s/lap quicker than VER, who even on fresher tyres couldn't attack RUS (77 laps on Mediums!).

No pace difference P1 to P5.
14 drivers finished as they started.
7 pit stops.

Race pace in 2023 (before it started to rain) as a reference:

The race pace of the leader got 1.030s slower, even though the pole time IMPROVED by 1.095s.

This was in great part due to the first lap red flag, which made it possible to run the race on a single tyre set.

This is Ferrari's best chance to win the Constructors Championship since 2018!💡

Red Bull faces correlation problems and PER is underperforming (P5 in the WDC): the championship seems open!
