My plan heading into this gameweek was to bring Szoboszlai back in for Wirtz. I had some doubts around Timber and Minteh, which nearly pushed me towards alternative routes, but based on the current information I can’t justify selling Timber. I’m leaning towards Minteh starting, so I’ll hope for the best there.

With all the chaos, I think free transfers carry a lot of value, so I’m happy to get away with using just one. I’m captaining Cunha over Haaland for the higher EV and added risk, the EV gap is big enough that for me Cunha is ahead even over the safety of Haaland.

A green arrow to my highest rank of the season. Thiago and Ekitike continue to support the 2 × £4.5m forward theory. I’ve got 4 transfers in the bank, with plans to use one to fix Minteh.

I had two issues in my team this week: O’Reilly and Minteh, both at risk of not starting. I was already planning to sell Minteh next week and felt he was the bigger minutes risk, whereas with O’Reilly I wanted to see a confirmed benching before moving him on. As a result, Minteh was the one I decided to sell.

The replacement options were Gordon, Kudus or Tielemans. None of them really stood out, but I was in a unique position with enough money in the bank to afford Gordon. He’s the most expensive of the three, but if he gets the minutes, I think he’s worth it given his penalty and set-piece duties.
