Remember that death is certain. It is important to have a constant awareness of death, as it reminds us of the temporary essence of this worldly life...

Remember that death could come at any moment. Use this reminder to repent for any wrongdoings, seek forgiveness, and strive to improve yourself in the eyes of Allāh.

Remember that death is not the end. after death, we will be placed in the grave. Our good deeds will provide comfort while our sins may lead to punishment. Use this reminder to ensure that you are striving to lead a righteous life..

Virtues of fasting Ashurah (10 Muharram)

▫️The expiation of sins that is achieved by fasting ‘Ashoora’ refers to minor sins; with regard to major sins, they need separate repentance.

Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Fasting the day of ‘Arafaah is an expiation for two years, and the day of ‘Ashoora is an expiation for one year, and if a person’s Ameen coincides with the Ameen of the angels, his previous sins will be forgiven… Each of the things mentioned may bring expiation. If he does something that expiates for minor sins he will be expiated, and if there are no minor or major sins, it will be recorded for him as good deeds and he will rise in status thereby… If there is one or more major sins and no minor sins, we hope that it will reduce his major sins.

—Al-Majmoo’ Sharh al-Muhadhdhab, part 6.

Ibn Al-Jauzi (رحمه الله) said:

"Your words will be recorded. You will be questioned about your sentences. How many sins you have that you have not repented of. The sun of your life is about to set. How hard your heart is, among all the hearts!"
