Hadith on Innovation (Bid’ah)


The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said

“Whoever introduces something in this matter of ours (Islam) that is not part of it, it will be rejected.”

(Sahih Muslim, Book 18, Hadith 4266)

“Beware of newly invented matters, for every newly invented matter is an innovation (bid’ah), and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire.”

(Sunan an-Nasa’i, Hadith 1578)


✨Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal

Kitab al-Sunnah

He advised against sitting with people of innovation and warned of the spiritual dangers of such associations. He stated that the hearts are weak and can be swayed by the doubts raised by innovators.

Hadith


Narrated Ka`b bin Malik:
I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ! For the acceptance of my repentance I wish to give all my property in charity for Allah's sake through His Messenger ." He said, "It is better for you to keep some of the property for yourself." I said, "Then I will keep my share in Khaibar."

Al-Munafiqun 63:4
وَإِذَا رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ تُعۡجِبُكَ أَجۡسَامُهُمْۖ وَإِن يَقُولُواْ تَسۡمَعۡ لِقَوۡلِهِمْۖ كَأَنَّهُمۡ خُشُبٌ مُّسَنَّدَةٌۖ يَحۡسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيۡحَةٍ عَلَيۡهِمْۚ هُمُ ٱلۡعَدُوُّ فَٱحۡذَرۡهُمْۚ قَٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُۖ أَنَّىٰ يُؤۡفَكُونَ

English - Mohsin Khan/Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
And when you look at them, their bodies please you; and when they speak, you listen to their words. They are as blocks of wood propped up. They think that every cry is against them. They are the enemies, so beware of them. May Allah curse them! How are they denying (or deviating from) the Right Path.

(4) (އަދި އޭ رَسُوْل اللَّه އެވެ!) ކަލޭގެފާނަށް އެމީހުން ފެނިއްޖެއްޔާ އެމީހުންގެ ހަށިތަކުގެ ރީތިކަމުގެ ސަބަބުން ކަލޭގެފާނު عَجائِب ކުރުވާނެއެވެ. އަދި އެމީހުން ވާހަކަދައްކަންޏާ ކަލޭގެފާނު އައްސަވާނެއެވެ. (ކަލޭގެފާނަށް ހީފުޅުވާނީ އެއީ ހަމަ حَقّ ތެދު ވާހަކަ ކަމަށެވެ. ނަމަވެސް އެއީ ހަމަ ދޮގެވެ.) އެމީހުން ކޮންފަދަ ހެއްޔެވެ؟ އެމީހުންނެކޭ ފާރެއްގައި ލައްކޮށްލާފައިވާ ލަކުޑިގަނޑެކޭ ހަމަ އެއްފަދައެވެ. ކޮންމެ އަޑެއް އިވުނަސް އެމީހުންނަށް ހީވާނީ އެއީ ހަމަ އެމީހުންގެ މައްޗަށް އަންނަ އަޑެއް ކަމަށެވެ. (އެއީ އެމީހުންގެ ފިނޑިކަމުންނެވެ.) އެއީ ކަނޑައެޅިގެން عَدُوّ ން ނެވެ. اللَّه އެމީހުން ހަލާކު ކުރައްވާށިއެވެ! لَعْنَة ލައްވާށިއެވެ! އަދި އެމީހުން حَقّ މަގާދުރުވެ، ދޮގުތައް ހަދަނީ ކޮންފަދައަކުން ހެއްޔެވެ؟ ދޮގުހެދޭނީ ކޮންފަދައަކުން ހެއްޔެވެ؟
