A short biography of the Esteemed Shaykh and Muhaddith Khalid bin Ibrahim bin Saad Al-Fulayj

Shaykh Khalid was born in 1390 AH.

He studied under several notable scholars, including:

Shaykh Abdulaziz bin Baz (may Allah forgive him), whom he accompanied for eleven years.

Shaykh Abdullah bin Jibreen (may Allah preserve him), whom he accompanied for thirteen years.

Shaykh Abdulrahman Al-Barrak (may Allah preserve him).

Shaykh Abdullah Al-Saad (may Allah release him).

The Shaykh excelled in the sciences of Aqeedah (Islamic creed) and Hadith. He has received authorization (Ijazah) in most of the major books of Hadith. He possesses an extensive library that includes rare manunoscripts and thousands of books.

As for his noble character and praiseworthy nature, one cannot overstate his humility, kindness, and purity of heart. Shaykh Khalid is well-known for his approachability and never turns away anyone in need.

He has delivered numerous lessons, lectures, and scholarly sessions. Among the texts he has explained are:

Lessons on Sahih Al-Bukhari.

Lessons on Sunan Al-Tirmidhi (almost completed).

Lessons on Sunan Al-Nasa’i.

An explanation of Sullam Al-Wusool by Hafidh Al-Hakami, completed in written notes.

Explanations of Al-Wasitiyyah, Al-Tahawiyyah, and Lum’at Al-I’tiqad.

An explanation of Nukhbat Al-Fikr in Mustalah (Hadith terminology), which was recorded.

An explanation of Zad Al-Mustaqni’.

An explanation of Ad-Daa’ wa Ad-Dawaa’ (The Disease and the Cure).

He has also explained many foundational texts, such as the works of Shaykh-ul-Islam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him).

Shaykh Khalid has also been actively involved in da’wah (Islamic propagation) and has organized numerous study programs. His weekly lessons take place in various cities and towns, such as:

1. Weekly lessons in Shaqraa and Murat.

2. He has conducted several study programs in Al-Quwai’iyah, Jubail, and Ar-Rain.

3. He has made several da’wah trips to the southern regions of Saudi Arabia, which, by Allah’s grace, were fruitful.

Those who have had close contact with the Shaykh have witnessed his strong scholarly abilities. At times, he delivers lessons extemporaneously, without prior preparation, yet he amazes his audience with his command of Hadith narrators, chains of transmission, and his ability to present differing scholarly opinions. This reflects the vastness of his knowledge and the depth of his study.

When Shaykh was asked about his study habits, he informed that during his years of learning, he used to study for an average of 17 hours a day.

Shaykh Khalid—may Allah grant him relief—has been known for his ability to guide and mentor young people. His door has always remained open to everyone, and his method has always been clear and sound.

Moreover, the detention of the Shaykh stirs emotions and ignites sentiments. Allah is the ultimate guardian and disposer of affairs.

We ask Allah to hasten the release of the Shaykh, so he may return to his family, children, and students without delay.

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah,

extensively discussed the qualities required in worship (ibadah) in his works. He talked about sincerity, humility, and following the correct methodology as the pillars of true worship.

1. Sincerity (Ikhlas)

Worship must be performed solely for Allah’s pleasure without any trace of showing off (riya) or seeking worldly benefits.

“Ikhlaas is the essence of ibadah, and without it, actions are void.”

-Madarij al-Salikin-

“And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion…”

(Surah Al-Bayyinah 98:5)

2. Compliance with the Sunnah (Mutaba’ah)

Acts of worship should conform to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).

Ibn Qayyim states in I’lam al-Muwaqqi’in

“Worship is invalid unless it aligns with the Shari’ah in both form and intention.”

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“Whoever does an act that is not in accordance with our matter (i.e., Shari’ah) will have it rejected.”

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1718)

3. Love (Mahabbah)

True worship stems from profound love for Allah, which motivates submission and devotion.

In Madarij al-Salikin, Ibn Qayyim describes:

“The essence of worship is love for Allah, coupled with humility and submission to Him.”

“But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah.”

(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:165)

4. Fear (Khawf) and Hope (Raja’)

A balanced approach of fearing Allah’s punishment and hoping for His mercy is essential in worship.

Ibn Qayyim mentions in Madarij al-Salikin:

“The heart in its journey towards Allah is like a bird: love is its head, and fear and hope are its two wings.”

“Call upon Him with fear and hope. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good.”

(Surah Al-A’raf 7:56)

5. Humility (Khushu’)

Worship requires a deep sense of humility and awareness of one’s need for Allah.

Ibn Qayyim in Asrar al-Salah

“Khushu’ is the submission of the heart to the greatness of Allah, manifesting in tranquility and focus during worship.”

“Successful indeed are the believers, those who humble themselves in their prayers.”

(Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:1-2)

6. Consistency and Perseverance (Istiqamah)

Worship should be consistent and steadfast, even during times of difficulty.

Ibn Qayyim writes in Al-Fawa’id:

“Istiqamah is the bridge between knowledge and action in worship.”

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those done regularly, even if they are small.”

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 6465)
