Emotional and beautiful Umrah moment.
Last year I went back to Makkah after about 2 years.
I was so happy to be back, but truth be told, I was sad because I felt like I didn’t belong here. The sins are heavy.
If you’ve ever felt that, being amongst righteous people and blessed locations, and feeling like you don’t deserve this. You’re not good enough.
One day after Fajr, I was performing Tawaf. I brought all my gear for Umrah, but the one thing I forgot was: a bag for my sandals.
Holding sandals throughout the entire Tawaf is painful and tricky.
You have to focus on not dropping them, and you can’t lift your hands to make Dua except to have a sandal staring you in the face.
And the dexterity needed to grasp two sandals with one hand takes away from full concentration on the Ibadah of Tawaf.
I wish I had a sandal bag. 😔
I entered Tawaf with that thought, it is what it is. I’ll make due. In sha Allah all good.
2nd round around the Kabah 🕋 and a woman comes from behind me, taps me on the shoulder.. AND HANDS ME A BAG FOR MY SANDALS!!
(Ok let me stop here to describe this blessed woman. She’s a Saudi-Syrian looking grandmother. Big Hershel bag on her back. Noor of Ibadah radiating from her face. If you have any “Hijazi” people in your community like we had in Maryland, then this woman looks like their blessed grandmother. Ok back to the story.)
She walked away from me. Just gave me the bag and left. No words exchanged.
And I was bawling.
I hadn’t even made Dua for a bag. I just “wished” I could’ve had one for Tawaf.
And the answer came by the second round of Tawaf!
So there I was, within moments of receiving the bag, bawling, in a raw emotional state, I hear someone shout in Dua, near the Black stone: Ya Sattar! Ya Allah!
From all the sounds of Tawaf, I heard this one LOUD AND CLEAR.
This has been my Dua of late.
This name of Allah, AsSattar (the one who covers our faults).
As social media seeks to expose people, seeks to humiliate them, seeks to “uncover” their faults, we call on AsSattar to cover our sins.
I received the gift of the sandal bag.
And then heard this name of Allah that meant so much to me.
A reminder that Allah knows what I’ve been making Dua for.
It was so emotional .. I just had to tell that Saudi-Syrian grandmother how much her gift meant to me.
I didn’t want to never see her again, without her hearing the above.
So I searched her out in Tawaf.
On the fourth time around the Kabah 🕋, I caught up to her around the Yemeni corner.
I approached her and said in Arabic, “I wanted to tell you that I entered Tawaf hoping for a bag to carry my sandals. And by the 2nd time around, Allah sent you and you gave me this bag. Thank you.”
If you can imagine the Noor on this woman’s face shone even brighter with her smile. She said back to me, “This is a good sign that your Umrah is accepted by Allah!”
And I started bawling again. She continued to make Dua for me and I said back to her, Ameen and the same for you Hajjah.
I finished my Tawaf with 3 lessons on Dua and Tawbah (repentance)
1. Even when you wish for something, Allah hears you. He is AlKareem. That morning I FELT His infinite Generosity.
2. The answer of Allah is swift. So ask, and ask plentiful. Even for a sandal bag.
3. The biggest lesson I got was from As-Sattar. No matter what you've done, no matter how much of sinner you are. Allah's doors are always open for you. All you need to do is repent.

A Story of a Woman who had Taqwa
Allah's statement;
سَيَجْعَلُ اللَّهُ بَعْدَ عُسْرٍ يُسْرًا
Allah will grant after hardship, ease.
This is a sure promise from Him, and indeed, Allah's promises are true and He never breaks them,
This is an Allah's saying;
فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْراً
إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْراً
Verily, along with every hardship is relief. Verily, along with every hardship is relief. (94:5-6)
There is a relevant Hadith that we should mention here.
Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Hurayrah said,
"A man and his wife from an earlier generation were poor. Once when the man came back from a journey, he went to his wife saying to her, while feeling hunger and fatigued, `Do you have anything to eat'
She said, `Yes, receive the good news of Allah's provisions.'
He again said to her, `If you have anything to eat, bring it to me.'
She said, `Wait a little longer.'
She was awaiting Allah's mercy. When the matter was prolonged, he said to her, `Get up and bring me whatever you have to eat, because I am real hungry and fatigued.'
She said, `I will. Soon I will open the oven's cover, so do not be hasty.'
When he was busy and refrained from insisting for a while, she said to herself, `I should look in my oven.'
So she got up and looked in her oven and found it full of the meat of a lamb, and her mortar and pestle was full of seed grains; it was crushing the seeds on its own. So, she took out what was in the mortar and pestle, after shaking it to remove everything from inside, and also took the meat out that she found in the oven."
Abu Hurayrah added,
"By He in Whose Hand is the life of Abu Al-Qasim (Prophet Muhammad)! This is the same statement that Muhammad said,
لَوْ أَخَذَتْ مَا فِي رَحْيَيْهَا وَلَمْ تَنْفُضْهَا لَطَحَنَتْهَا إِلى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَة
Had she taken out what was in her mortar and not emptied it fully by shaking it, it would have continued crushing the seeds until the Day of Resurrection.

In the end of the night and the silence of war, the heart of a child named Muhammad pulses, afflicted with leukemia. But his story transcends the boundaries of illness. His treatment has been disrupted due to lack of chemotherapy in times of war. Travel routes for treatment abroad are closed. Muhammad is not just a name; he is a tragic note in the symphony of conflict. In his eyes, there’s a color of despair, and in his heart, hope awaits a ray of light. Let’s unite, scatter petals of awareness until the world hears the call of the vulnerable. Through his resilience, Muhammad inspires us to be their voice and a symbol of their hope.
