"O one who obeys his mouth and his desires, who wastes his share of the akhirah by taking his entire share in this world, who persists in committing sins and evil deeds - if only I knew: what your excuse will be before Him.
What argument will you put forth when you go to Him?"

❝ The Messenger ﷺ commanded the Muslim, if he leaves his house for the prayer, to go out with calmness and tranquility, and not to rush even if the the prayer had begun. The wisdom behind this is that a Muslim is required to have khushūʿ ⁽¹⁾ and contemplation during the prayer, so if he hurries, the khushūʿ is lost. ❞

Imaam Fudayl bin Iyad رحمه الله narrates:
I learned patience from a small boy. On my way to the Masjid one day, I came across a woman beating her son at home. As he was yelling and screaming, he managed to open the door and flee. So his mother locked the door on him. When I returned from the Masjid, I found the boy after having cried and wept sleeping at the door of his home longing for his mother. So his mother's heart softened and she opened the door for him.
Upon witnessing this, Fudayl bin lyad cried until his beard became wet with tears, and then he said "SubhaanAllah! If only the servant was to be patient at the door of Allah, Allah would surely open it!
