Als je het Woord van God zou lezen, zou je zien dat God nooit profeten en predikers heeft gestuurd om zijn volk te leren hoe ze rijk konden worden.
Hij stuurde hen om zijn volk op te roepen zich te bekeren en in het reine te komen, voordat het te laat is.
En het verhaal van de rijke jongeman onderstreept dit nogmaals:

En ziet, een kwam tot Hem en zeide tot Hem: Meester, wat goed ding zal ik doen, opdat ik het eeuwige leven hebbe?

Doch de jongeling, deze woorden horende, ging bedroefd weg; want hij had vele goederen.
