How to organize yourself as a Christian militiaman:
Those of us who organize our lives with various methods often get frustrated with not getting what we want. Therefore, I want to provide you with some useful tips on how to organize your life in a God-oriented way to reach the best version of yourself.
-First, focus on the Will of God. If He lets you sleep in because your alarm didn't go off, accept it and go ahead. Avoid the anger of not doing what you want and focus on what God wants. As it is with all the inconveniences of everyday life, which can prevent us from doing our duties or objectives, especially those unexpected things. The more worried we are about things we cannot change, the more we overlook that which we can. They are there to make you grow in virtue, offer them with a defiant smile against the devil, the world, and the weakness of your flesh.
-Second, we must understand our life as a war, not to focus on our material gains, but on spiritual gains. We have to see our duties through, to see our defects and virtues. Each of them is a battlefield where we are accompanied by our Lord, the Blessed Virgin, our guardian angels, the saints whose help we call upon, and our friends, many who are alone in the wilderness and from time to time want to be great again, we all want to do everything right, quickly, and be as perfect as possible, an idea which ends up demotivating them.
If you see all the struggles as a battlefield, in a battle you can rarely win on all fronts, advance little by little, set your bar low; yes, many times there are great offensives and victories that you advance a lot but the next objective is to maintain the territory, other times you have to choose well the battles we choose, other times it is prudent to withdraw.
-How to win your battles?
You may train spiritually and materially, both soul and body as we are both, always recourse God's grace to fulfill your preparation properly, also you need allies, you cannot be a lone wolf all your life, seek them, also befriend them (how?), when things get hard you will need some local allies to help you, find good generals to lead you and if you cannot find them, pray for guidance so you can step up to the plate. Find saints to help you, then plan logistics and strategy; you ought to have a lot of flexibility. God may have different plans for you, so you should be able to change the course.
When you are figuring out the situations of the battlefield, you might think your position is horrible and you might be enraged about it, on how you are alone, but you have to consider that God made you and put you in those situations to make you thrive and build virtue. You might envy other people's positions. We all think that the neighbor's grass is greener, but everyone has their own crosses to bear and you might be less able to handle those over your own.
It also may happen that you lose a battle, but never the war. Mortal sin happens to us all. Even when it seems you've lost so many battles, focus on your true intentions and what God wants for you, focus on surveying your position objectively. Remember that feelings distort the situation. Gather your forces and even withdraw. Give it time and re-think your strategies. Lower your expectations, focus on holding the line, then focus on the little victories, little by little, you will make an avalanche. Discipline is the key, not motivation.
Remember the value of suffering. Fulton Sheen said “Maturity comes through suffering and responsibility”, it’s the path of manhood sustain great suffering and keeps going with our duties, you can be happy while suffering, you can suffer well and offer that to God, that’s the path of happiness in the dark days that are yet to come.
As long as hope remains, our war is not over. When Satan surrounds us, he may think he will have his hour, but God will have His day and Satan will be defeated. We NEVER fight alone. Together, we drive the sword of God inside the snake's belly.
These tips I consider to be an excellent way to organize our life as Christian militiaman.
