Today is the death anniversary of the Servant of God Catharina Iwanaga Mori. She was a Japanese 5-year-old child who is being considered for beatification as a martyr. She was imprisoned during the time of Christian persecution in Japan. One day, a soldier offered to give her sweet cookies if she said she hated Christ. Though she was hungry, she replied, "Oh, no. Then I cannot go to heaven. There are much sweeter cookies in heaven."

Loving Servant of God Iwanaga Mori, holier than so many adults, please pray for us to overcome the temptation of gluttony. We would prefer to eat the sweet cookies of Heaven over those on Earth, so please pray for us to gracefully overcome these temptations as you did. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Husbands, God's purpose for your wife is to be your helper--to help you fulfill the work God has set before you. However, too many men suppress and ignore their wives counsel in an effort to be more manly but, as a result, they simply become half the man God intended them to be. Husbands, your wife's reminders to pray with her, or to spend more time with your kids, or to not work so late, or to lead your family, or to correct a character flaw is not nagging, it's her doing what God designed her to do.
The fact that we need help from a woman isn't because we're broken, it's because we're broken without it.

Concretely, if a girl devotes several years of her youth and much money of her parents to acquiring a university education, especially a decent one, how easily will she submit to her husband, especially if he has not had that education?

And how may she not argue with him if he has had it?

And if she has a "degree", how will she not think herself above the multiple humiliations of being "barefoot and pregnant"?

And if she is a "graduate", how will she not hold-herself superior to being-a “vegetable at the-kitchen-sink"?

And if making a family makes her forget in the right kind of way all about "graduating", "degrees" and "university", why go there in the first place?

The dilemma is inescapable: in doing manly things like going to a university, either she is merely going through the motions or she is damaging her potential for motherhood - conclusion: she should not go there.

from a sub : I'm a nanny and no matter how much I love those kiddos as if they were my own, I can never replace a mother. Don't get a second car, eat at home, and buy second hand and you can afford to stay home with your babies. They need you. I literally had this exact experience with a little boy that I worked with. He was in his moms closet saying "I just want my mom" and crying and I couldn't comfort him because I'm not her. It was heartbreaking.
