It's easy to sympathize with the poor when they're just some sentimentalized group out there that you never really fully encounter. But what about the widow next door who has been, maybe, rude to you on occasion? Does she deserve your help? What about the drug-addicted cousin who is living in pretty desperate economic situations? Jesus didn't tell us to "love the poor"; He told us to love our neighbor. He told us to focus our attention on the people right next to us, with all of their faults laid open.

Homosexuals can no longer force Christians to participate in their perverted, distorted view of marriage in the state of Tennessee.

Huge win.

"What the father brings home today is usually a touchy mood, springing from powerlessness and despair mingled with longstanding shame and the numbness peculiar to those who hate their jobs. When a father, absent during the day, returns home at six, his children receive only his temperament and not his teaching. If the father is working for a corporation, what is there to teach? He is reluctant to tell his son  what is really going on. The fragmentation of decision-making in corporate life, the prudence, even cowardice, that one learns from bureaucracy — who wants to teach that? It’s no exaggeration to say that the Industrial Revolution led to a Manhood Devolution. Manhood became more and more about income generation, less and less about sacrificial leadership."

It's a far cry from 'Guernica' but this is a Picasso. He was 14 years old when he painted the First Communion of his sister Lola. He'd continue to paint for more than seven decades after this.
