With St. Valentine's Day approaching and romance being promoted, let's remember prudent and modest PDA to avoid scandal in front of children and others in public.

It is important to know of moderate Physical Displays of Affection (PDA) to show in front of others. If there is no sign of healthy physical touch between a couple, the child can develop the idea that all physical touch is bad or search for it in the world in inappropriate excessive ways. With that being said, we don’t want to have inappropriate forms of PDA to avoid scandal as intimacy is indeed a private act. Above I have created a chart of good forms of physical touch in front of children and inappropriate physical touch that remains to be intimate behind closed doors.

I found out that my 10-year-old and my 4-year-old have a secret hand shake. I love being a close-knit family. 🥰 One of the many advantages of homeschooling is that my older kids have the opportunity to develop closer relationships with their younger siblings than if they spent most of their day outside the home.

My good friends of many years have a 15 month old named Bonaventure who went underwater for 1-2 minutes. Upon finding him, the family started CPR and called 911. After 45 minutes of chest compressions (pre-hospital and hospital) they regained a pulse and he was flown to a Children's Hospital in Florida. Bonaventure is currently on a ventilator tonight with dilated pupils. This obviously carries a very bad prognosis. But we believe Jesus Christ the Son of God can fully restore and heal Bonaventure. Yes, it will take a miracle, and yes we're inviting you and all your children to contend tonight with all you got in prayer for Bonaventure's full recovery.

St. Valentine was a Roman priest and martyr. Some accounts say that he was a bishop, probably due to another saint with the same name remembered of this day: St. Valentine of Terni (although many hagiographers consider them as one and the same). It is said that Valentine was a physician. He was arrested and jailed for helping Christians in prison. While in prison, he restored the sight of a jailer’s daughter. He was later beheaded.

Patron of Lovers
Dear Saint Valentine, you championed God's love by performing marriages for soldiers and their sweethearts, against the edict of the Roman Emperor. Because of that, you were martyred for the Faith and became the Patron of Lovers.
O courageous Saint, help us to love God above all else, and to give of ourselves and receive one another through His grace. Help those of us called to marriage to love our spouse with affection and joy. Help those who fervently seek someone with whom they can share their lives to meet the person God has prepared for them. May all of us grow to love Jesus, our true Valentine, forever. Amen.
