I went to Costa Rica when I was 9. We were at a hotel in the middle of the rain forest and two other kids who were in the tour group were walking ahead of us. They saw some sort of mudball about the size of a baseball hanging on a branch. One of them says "I bet I can hit that with this stick" and hits it. The older sibling responds by saying "I bet I can hit it with my hand" and jumps up and smacks it. They walk forward a few steps before the rest of us get to watch a cloud of tiny bees or wasps coil out of it and chase them down. Their screaming was so loud as the sprinted down the path. They were fine but they were covered in welts for the rest of the time we saw them.
