An American military veteran is being persecuted by the Justice Department for attempting to fight Israel by joining Hezbollah, which the State Department lists as a terrorist organization despite it being a legal political party in Lebanon.
Meanwhile the US government is considering delisting HTS as a terrorist organization after their takeover of Syria, while militants associated with the group continue to engage in sectarian violence across Syria.
Unlike Hezbollah which fought Israel's invasion of Lebanon, HTS has put up no resistance to Israel's invasion of the southern Syria. Instead they have voiced their intention to normalize ties with the Jewish State.
