The Organisation Lutte du Peuple explained to its militants: “Don’t be afraid to use so-called leftist terminology, provided, of course, you specify or modify its meaning”. The OLP denounced the West and “a Europe mentally and politically colonized” by cultural imperialism, the only solution to which was “a class struggle between ruling nations and ruled nations,” that is, a “fight for liberation from imperialism (USA-USSR-ZIONISM),” which was the work of the Jews. That liberation was supposed to eliminate the “pro-Russian or pro-American Kollabos,” and “it will build a new cultural order founded on a virile Socialism: European Socialism.”

What the Americans detest more particularly is the war professional: the career soldier. They can, on occasion, foster some admiration for the ‘maverick’, the desperado, the bounty hunter or the Indian scout, rarely for the one who makes a profession of warlike talent.

In the post, I prove that Nazi Germany was influenced by ironically Dollfuss’s Austrian fascism to a degree, mainly that they adopted the same corporate state structure, or at least a modified version.

People very often reduce liberalism to having arisen merely as a reaction against monarchical absolutism and ecclesiastical authority in the Middle Ages and early modern period. But if we think more carefully, it actually emerged from a longing for antiquity, a kind of “invisible” nostalgia for the ancient world. There is a Dionysian element, heavily rooted in ancient Greek philosophy, something inherently liberal in that older worldview.
Even with communism when you think about it because communism carries within it the echo of ancient communal societies: the village, the tribe, the commons shared without calculation. It is animated by a kind of “hidden” nostalgia for a world before private accumulation separated human beings from one another.
So there is something decidedly Apollonian or even Platonic in this ideal, the belief that society can be reshaped according to rational principles of justice and equality, that the fragmentation of the modern world can be overcome through a collective harmony. Yet within this Apollonian vision also pulses an earthy Dionysian impulse toward solidarity, celebration, and shared existence. Communism then is not merely a revolt against new forms of domination, it is also an attempt to retrieve the lost memory of a common humanity.
Most of these “thought leader” philosopher phags are essentially nostalgia merchants, dreaming of a return to the ancient world in which they never lived. The apple that the other person holds always looks bigger than yours.
