“Make Europe Great Again”

While the publicly released NSS calls for the end of a “perpetually expanding NATO,” the full version goes more into the details of how the Trump administration would like to—quote—“Make Europe Great Again,” even as it calls on European NATO members to wean themselves from American military support.

Working from the premise that Europe is facing “civilizational erasure” because of its immigration policies and “censorship of free speech,” the NSS proposes to focus U.S. relationships with European countries on a few nations with like-minded—right-wing, presumably—current administrations and movements.

Austria, Hungary, Italy, and Poland are listed as countries the U.S. should “work more with…with the goal of pulling them away from the EU.”

“And we should support parties, movements, and intellectual and cultural figures who seek sovereignty and preservation/restoration of traditional European ways of life…while remaining pro-American,” the document says.

Mayoral candidate for New York City and a new rising political prodigy in the American left, Zohran Mamdani, is well-known for his overt endorsement of democratic socialist ideas.

His father once wrote a book, “Slow Poison,” where he criticizes neoliberal economics which gave wealth to the “corrupt” leader of Uganda, President Museveni, while he gives tribute to the notorious former dictator of Uganda, Idi Amin.

Zohran Mamdani’s father praises Idi Amin for his “anti-colonial” socialist tendencies despite one of his family members being persecuted and expelled for being “Asian.” Idi Amin is well-known for his racial discrimination and expulsion of primarily Asians (Indians, Pakistanis), Western Europeans (British), and Jews, while he was lenient on Eastern Europeans (Soviet Bloc aligned) and Arabs that fought against Israel and “Western powers.”

Right-wing anti-capitalism is incompatible with the three classical political ideologies of the West. Capitalism and its total apology lie at the heart of classical liberalism. Putin criticises it. Therefore, liberalism – the First Political Theory – is radically rejected by Putin. Left-wing anti-capitalism – that is, communism or socialism, the Second Political Theory – is incompatible with conservatism. Therefore, Putin clearly does not have that in mind either. And finally, the Third Political Theory – nationalism or fascism – is obviously not seriously considered by Putin: it is another offspring of the West, incompatible with Russia’s historical experience.

So, we are approaching the Fourth Political Theory closely. It is most consistent with ‘right-wing anti-capitalism’. And only by deciding on an unequivocal break with the three political theories of classical Western modernity, Russia will be able to win back a fully fledged theoretical horizon for itself. The only question left is when Putin will directly turn to the Fourth Political Theory.
