For Wilfred Risdon the British Union of Fascists was "the custodian of the ideals of the early Socialist pioneers" and Mosley the twentieth-century equivalent of Robert Owen. However the Labour Party through its acceptance of the capitalist values of materialism and internationalism had betrayed its socialist principles and supporters.
