"China’s government is considering suspending its 125% tariff on some US imports, people familiar with the matter said, as the economic costs of the tit-for-tat trade war weigh heavily on certain industries.
Authorities are considering removing the additional levies for medical equipment and some industrial chemicals like ethane, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing private deliberations.
Officials are also discussing waiving the tariff for plane leases, the people said. Like many airlines, Chinese carriers don’t own all of their aircraft and pay leasing fees to third-party companies to use some jets — payments that would have become financially ruinous with the additional tariff."

General Yaroslav Moskalik (59), deputy chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, was killed in a car bomb explosion in the Moscow suburb of Balashikha this morning
"A senior Russian military official has been killed in a car explosion near Moscow, as Vladimir Putin began his high-stakes meeting in the Kremlin with Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff.
The Russian authorities named the officer as Lt Gen Yaroslav Moskalik, the deputy head of the main operations directorate of the general staff of the Russian armed forces.
The blast appeared to be similar in nature to previous attacks on Russians that were later claimed by Ukraine and could cast a shadow over Friday’s talks between Moscow and Washington.
The Kremlin published a short clip showing Putin and Witkoff shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries before sitting down on opposite sides of a white oval table to start their meeting behind closed doors. Putin was flanked in the meeting with Witkoff, who holds no formal diplomatic credentials, by his senior foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, and investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev.
(...)
Baza, a Telegram channel with sources in Russia’s law enforcement agencies, said a bomb in a parked car in the town of Balashikha in the Moscow region had been detonated remotely when the officer, who lived locally, walked past."

"Murder of General Staff General Near Moscow. FSB Names Three Versions
A source in the FSB revealed to us the first versions of the murder of the deputy head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff, General Yaroslav Moskalik, in Balashikha.
"There are three versions. Enemy sabotage, settling of personal scores and the activities of internal enemies who want to disrupt the peace process on the Ukrainian crisis. There is no priority version yet, an investigation is underway," the channel's source said.
The third version surprised us (it is difficult to imagine that there are forces inside Russia that can kill their own high-ranking military man, and for such a purpose). But the FSB said that they are considering various options, especially since “there have been signals about this in recent weeks.”
An investigation is underway.

"TEHRAN (Sputnik) - Tehran is ready to make its nuclear program more transparent and develop more trust in it, provided that sanctions are lifted, Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said on Tuesday.
"We will try to create more transparency and more trust [in the nuclear program] in exchange for lifting sanctions. In other words, in exchange for lifting sanctions — I emphasize, in a way that is effective and has a [positive] effect on people's lives — Iran is ready to create more trust in its nuclear program and more transparency," Mohajerani told reporters.
Mohajerani added that Iran considers it possible to reach a "good agreement" with the United States on nuclear issue, and this can be done in a short time.
"We are confident that reaching a good agreement [with Washington] in a short time while respecting our national interests is realistic," Mohajerani said.
Mohajerani described the second round of Iranian-American talks as "good," and called its atmosphere "constructive."

Iran Ready to Make Nuclear Program More Transparent in Exchange for Lifting Sanctions
A decade ago, Iran agreed to limit its nuclear program under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a deal supported by Russia and several other world powers. However, the agreement collapsed during Donald Trump’s first term. Now, Washington is seemingly…

"April 25 (Reuters) - China has exempted some U.S. imports from its 125% tariffs and is asking firms to identify critical goods they need levy-free, according to businesses that have been notified, in the clearest sign yet of Beijing's concerns about the trade war's fallout.
The dispensation, which follows de-escalatory statements from Washington, signals that the world's two largest economies were prepared to rein in their conflict, which had frozen much of the trade between them, raising fears of a global recession.
Beijing's exemptions - which business groups hope would extend to dozens of industries - pushed the U.S. dollar up slightly and lifted equity markets in Hong Kong and Japan.
“As a quid-pro-quo move, it could provide a potential way to de-escalate tensions," said Alfredo Montufar-Helu, a senior adviser to the Conference Board's China Center, a think tank.
But, he cautioned: "It’s clear that neither the U.S. nor China want to be the first in reaching out for a deal."
