🇵🇰🇮🇳🇫🇷 - A high-ranking French intelligence official told CNN that one Rafale fighter jet operated by the Indian Air Force was downed by Pakistan.
This would mark the first time that one of the sophisticated French-made warplanes has been lost in combat.

Each cardinal elector must fill out – in secret, of course – the ballot, writing «clearly, in a handwriting as unrecognizable as possible, the name of the person he elects». At that point the ballot must be folded in half and the cardinal – holding it up and clearly visible – goes to the altar near which the scrutineers are standing.
The cardinal swears: «I call Christ the Lord, who will judge me, to witness that my vote is given to the one who, according to God, I believe should be elected». Then he places the ballot on a plate and slides it into a chalice, used as an urn; he bows before the altar and returns to his place.
At the end of the vote, one of the three scrutineers shakes the urn several times to mix the ballots; another transfers the ballots, one by one, into another chalice. If the number of ballots corresponds to the total number of voters, the counting takes place.
The scrutineers sit at a table in front of the altar. The first scrutineer opens one ballot at a time and reads the name; the second repeats the procedure. The third scrutineer writes down the name and reads it aloud, then pierces the ballots with a needle corresponding to the word "Eligo" and ties them all together with a thread.
The three cardinal auditors recheck the ballots, annotations and sums. The Camerlengo collects the notes and draws up a report with the result.
All the papers are burned in the stove, with a chemical additive to change the color of the "smoke": black if the new Pope has not been elected, white if he is elected.

🇬🇧Ursula von der Leyen has ruled out, in no uncertain terms, the possibility of resuming purchases of Russian fossil fuels after the conclusion of the war in Ukraine, warning that doing so would represent a "mistake of historic dimensions" for Europe.
"To be very clear: the era of Russian fossil fuels in Europe is coming to an end," the president of the European Commission said on Wednesday morning as she addressed lawmakers in Strasbourg.
"Some are still saying that we should reopen the tap of Russian gas and oil. This would be a mistake of historic dimensions. And we will never let it happen," she said.
"Russia has proven, time and again, that it is not a reliable supplier. Putin has already cut gas flows to Europe in 2006, 2009, 2014, 2021, and throughout the war. How many times before they learn the lesson?" she went on.
"Dependency on Russia is not only bad for our security, but also for our economy. Our energy prices cannot be dictated by a hostile neighbour."
Despite the collective undertaking, some Russian fuels are still making their way into the bloc's economy. Last year, the 27 member states spent €23 billion on Russian energy, surpassing the amount of military assistance provided to Ukraine.
According to the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), EU imports of Russian LNG in 2024 increased by 9% compared to the previous year. Almost 90% of these purchases arrived in France (7.7 bcm), Spain (5.7 bcm) and Belgium (5.1 bcm).
