🇫🇷❌📱 The French MFA denies the claims made by Telegram founder, Pavel Durov, of pressuring the app to silence Romanian conservatives using the app.

The MFA calls the claims "unfounded" and calls on "everyone" to "respect Romanian democracy".

They reiterate Romania had the "legal" right to cancel its own elections last year because there was "very real digital and financial interference from actors linked to Russia".

They mention the "investigation" of Romanian and EU authorities which showed a "manipulation" of TikTok's algorithms.

Lastly, the French MFA accuses the people spreading the "unfounded claims" of Telegram CEO, Pavel Durov, of "diversionary tactics", of wanting to draw away attention from "real threats of interference".

The French MFA reiterates France's support for Romania during the negotiations for EU membership, for "reforms" and for "strengthening" Romanian borders with troop deployments after the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian war.

The French MFA calls on all Romanian political actors to "defend democracy" and say that those who say the contrary are "insulting" the French nation.

"Good meeting with Vice President of the United States of America J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Rome.

Discussed the negotiations in Istanbul, where the Russians sent a low-level delegation with no decision-making authority. I reaffirmed Ukraine’s readiness for real diplomacy and stressed the importance of a full and unconditional ceasefire as soon as possible.

We also touched on the need for sanctions against Russia, bilateral trade, defense cooperation, the situation on the battlefield, and the future exchange of prisoners.
