Cetus Protocol, the largest DEX on the Sui network, was exploited, leading to a halt in trading and drained liquidity pools.

The attacker used spoof tokens to exploit price curves and reserve calculations, manipulating liquidity to extract real assets.

Cetus has paused its smart contracts for safety and plans to release a detailed statement, while its token CETUS has dropped 40%.

Cetus Protocol, the largest decentralized exchange (DEX) and liquidity provider on the Sui network, has been drained of $260 million worth of tokens in an apparent hack, according to crypto sleuth Lookonchain.

🌊✍️🦠😷World Health Assembly adopts historic Pandemic Agreement to make the world more equitable and safer from future pandemics

On May 20, 2025 Member States of the World Health Organization (WHO) today formally adopted by consensus the world's first Pandemic Agreement. The landmark decision by the 78th World Health Assembly culminates more than three years of intensive negotiations launched by governments in response to the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and driven by the goal of making the world safer from – and more equitable in response to – future pandemics.

“The world is safer today thanks to the leadership, collaboration and commitment of our Member States to adopt the historic WHO Pandemic Agreement,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “The Agreement is a victory for public health, science and multilateral action. It will ensure we, collectively, can better protect the world from future pandemic threats. It is also a recognition by the international community that our citizens, societies and economies must not be left vulnerable to again suffer losses like those endured during COVID-19.”

Noteworthy 11 countries abstained, Bulgaria, Iran, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, the Netherlands, Paraguay, Poland, Russia and Slovakia, U.S. was absent. Following the vote, the abstaining countries were given the opportunity to explain why they took this decision.

The Polish delegate explained that they could not support the treaty ahead of a domestic review, whilst Russia raised the issue of sovereignty as a concern. Iran’s representative said that “key concerns of developing countries were not addressed,” and that they regretted the “lack of binding commitments on unhindered access and equitable access to medical countermeasures, technology transfer and knowhow, and continued silence on negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on health systems.”

During the high-level segment which preceded the vote, a notable intervention came from the United States which has begun the year-long process of withdrawing from the WHO, and did not take part in the vote.

In a video addressed to the Assembly, US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy excoriated the WHO, accusing the UN agency of having “doubled down with the Pandemic Agreement which will lock in all of the dysfunction of the WHO pandemic response...we're not going to participate in that."

🇧🇷🤝💰 Braza Group Announces Launch of USDB Stablecoin on the XRP Ledger

Braza Group has just announced the launch of the new USDB stablecoin on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a decentralized layer-1 blockchain designed for efficient tokenization and the exchange of real-world assets. Pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, USDB is 100% backed by assets such as U.S. and Brazilian government bonds and is regularly audited. The digital asset combines the stability of traditional currency with the benefits of blockchain technology. Its goal is to offer secure and cost-effective solutions for digital transactions by individuals and companies.

With over 15 years in operation and currently ranking 6th in Brazil’s interbank operations according to BACEN, Braza moved USD 1.079 billion in just 24 hours this April—nearly BRL 6 billion transacted in the interbank market. The leading foreign exchange bank already includes another stablecoin in its portfolio, the BBRL, launched earlier in 2025. Both BBRL and USDB are issued on the XRPL giving Braza a unified, scalable infrastructure to support real-world financial use cases onchain.

According to Marcelo Sacomori, CEO of Braza Group, launching another digital asset is a way to foster new business models and add value to both the Latin American and global markets. “With USDB, Brazilian individuals and companies gain new alternatives to hedge against volatility and speed up their operations. We are committed to offering a stablecoin that not only meets but exceeds the highest standards of security and compliance. Our mission is to contribute to a more inclusive and efficient financial ecosystem,” says Sacomori.

🌑🚔👮 SafeMoon CEO Braden Karony has been found guilty of securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering.

He faces up to 45 years in prison.

Earlier today, at the federal courthouse in Brooklyn, a federal jury convicted Braden John Karony on all counts of a three-count indictment charging him with conspiracy to commit securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. The charges arose from the defendant’s and his co-conspirators’ roles in defrauding investors in a decentralized finance digital asset called “SafeMoon,” issued by their company SafeMoon LLC. As alleged, the defendant agreed with his co-conspirators to lie to SafeMoon investors about whether SafeMoon executives could access the liquidity pool and whether they were using the assets from the liquidity pool for their personal benefit. As SafeMoon’s market capitalization grew to more than $8 billion, the defendant fraudulently diverted and misappropriated millions of dollars’ worth of liquidity from the SafeMoon liquidity pool for their personal benefit. The verdict followed a 12-day trial before United States District Judge Eric R. Komitee. When sentenced, Karony faces up to 45 years in prison. The jury also issued a verdict to forfeit one residential property and the proceeds from the sale of another residential property, amounting to approximately $2 million.

🇨🇭👁👁‍🗨📸Switzerland plans surveillance worse than US

In Switzerland, a country known for its love for secrecy, particularly when it comes to banking, the tides have turned: An update to the VÜPF surveillance law directly targets privacy and anonymity services such as VPNs as well as encrypted chat apps and email providers. As an encrypted email provider ourself, we at Tuta Mail call on Swiss politicians to revise this dangerous update!

The proposed update to Switzerland’s Ordinance on the Surveillance of Postal and Telecommunications Traffic (VÜPF: Verordnung über die Überwachung des Post- und Fernmeldeverkehrs) represents a significant expansion of state surveillance powers, worse than the surveillance powers of the USA. If enacted, it would have serious consequences for encrypted services such as Threema, an encrypted WhatsApp alternative and Proton Mail as well as VPN providers based in Switzerland.

While Swiss privacy has been overhyped, legislative rules in Switzerland are currently decent and comparable to German data protection laws. This update to the VÜPF, which could come into force by 2026, would change data protection legislation in Switzerland dramatically.

Why the update is dangerous

If the law passes in its current form,

➡️Swiss email and VPN providers with just 5,000 users are forced to log IP addresses and retain the data for six months - while data retention in Germany is illegal for email providers.
➡️ID or driver’s license, maybe a phone number, are required for the registration process of various services - rendering the anonymous usage impossible.
➡️Data must be delivered upon request in plain text, meaning providers must be able to decrypt user data on their end (except for end-to-end encrypted messages exchanged between users).

What is more, the law is not introduced by or via the Parliament, but instead the Swiss government, the Federal Council and the Federal Department of Justice and Police (FDJP), want to massively expand internet surveillance by updating the VÜPF - without Parliament having a say. This comes as a shock in a country proud of its direct democracy with regular people’s decisions on all kinds of laws. However, in 2016 the Swiss actually voted for more surveillance, so direct democracy might not help here.
