Greece is one step away from signing the intergovernmental agreement to send workers from India.

The country with the largest population on the planet is settling the final details to proceed, if possible, with the signing of an intergovernmental agreement with Greece after the end of the summer.

The agreement will aim to address the huge problem of the lack of labor that plagues many sectors in our country by providing for the transfer of highly specialized workers to many sectors of the Greek economy (such as catering and tourism).

According to Proto Thema, India is interested – at least in the first phase – in sending approximately 50,000 skilled and unskilled workers per year within the framework of the intergovernmental agreement that is expected to be signed.

🇪🇺❌🇷🇴 Due to the disastrous economic situation, Romania has defaulted on its financial obligations towards Ukraine and the EU is now placing fines on Bucharest!

Romania failed to contribute in time with 18.6 million EURs to the European Peace Facility and now the EU is placing a 3.181 EUR fine/day until Romania pays what it "owes" to Ukraine + the daily penalties.

This money should've been paid on April 14th but the EU granted a "month of grace" and didn't apply penalties until May 13th after which the fines started coming in. The government is now scrambling to use the reserve fund to pay the sum before the fines make it too expensive.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will fly to Berlin today hoping to receive additional weapons from the new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. However, as BILD has learned, the key weapon Ukraine was hoping for – long-range Taurus missiles – will not be delivered. The government is now calling this topic “taboo”.

Merz, however, does not intend to meet Zelensky empty-handed. Germany is expected to provide Ukraine with additional Mars-2 systems with a firing range of up to 85 km. Similar systems were already delivered in 2022. In addition, additional deliveries of GPS-guided M30 and M31 missiles are possible - despite the fact that Russia has successfully countered this technology.

According to BILD, the German government is also considering an option of indirect support: financing the Ukrainian defense industry. This would involve allocating large sums of money for the development of its own Ukrainian cruise missiles with a range of up to 2,500 km.

However, the development of the Ukrainian military industry remains under threat due to constant Russian shelling. Therefore, Germany, as BILD has learned, is also negotiating the transfer of new Iris-T air defense systems. But there is a catch: even if a decision is made, the deliveries of these systems will not begin before the end of the 2020s."

Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a new defense initiative today. Germany intends to help Ukraine establish production of long-range weapons in both countries. According to Merz, this will be "the first step towards a new form of military-industrial cooperation."

The German and Ukrainian defense ministers are expected to sign a corresponding agreement in the near future. Merz emphasized that he wants to "ensure the possibility of joint production." At the same time, he stated that there will be no restrictions on the range of the systems being created.

“Ukraine must have the ability to fully defend itself, including against military targets outside its territory,” he added.

👥 In Berlin, the defense ministers of Ukraine and Germany signed a key agreement on financing the production of long-range weapons in Ukraine. A contract was also signed between the Ukrainian side and the German defense concern Diehl for the supply of air defense systems and ammunition.

💳 Germany will finance the production of long-range weapons in Ukraine, which will allow for the effective use of existing factory capacities and Ukrainian engineering resources. It is planned to manufacture a large number of such systems during 2025. They will be promptly delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine - the first installations can be transferred in a few weeks.
