🇨🇫 In the Central African Republic gold mines have become the Wagner’s private preserve. At the Ndassima site alone, estimates suggest more than 200 billion CFA francs per year in gold extraction—funds that don't benefit the local population.

In Ydéré, gold and mercury are shipped out in tankers every week. In Boda, via the company Lobaye Invest, both gold and diamonds are being exploited. In Lobaye prefecture, valuable timber is also being extracted and shipped abroad.

🇸🇩🇦🇪 Sudan's booming wartime gold trade flows through the UAE

Sudan's gold industry has become the lifeblood of its war, with nearly all of the trade channelled through the United Arab Emirates, enriching both the army and paramilitaries, sources say.

The two-year conflict has decimated Sudan's economy, yet last month the army-backed government announced record gold production in 2024. Demand for the country's vast gold reserves was "a key factor in prolonging the war," Sudanese economist Abdelazim al-Amawy told AFP.

🇲🇽 Captain BJ Dart on X: Michoacán is transforming into a minefield patrolled by drones in the sky.

Most nations are not equipped to deal with this.

Mexican authorities are reporting finding on average about 5 times more explosive devices than in 2022.

The cartels are also running recruitment operations for explosives experts and engineers.

That includes ex-combatants from conflicts in the ME and Ukraine.

There are few signs of this deescalating anytime soon.

Mexico has always had geographical issues that made power projection from Mexico City difficult: mines, drones, and surveillance technology make this even harder in the 21st century.

🇸🇻💬 — Nayib Bukele, President of El Salvador, says he doesn’t care about the opinion of the left and states he’s not bothered by being called a dictator:

“I don’t mind being called a dictator by that sensationalist national and international media — they have the freedom to do so. (…) I’d rather be called a dictator if it means we can finally live in peace and stop seeing our people killed by violence every day in the streets. Let them worry about semantics while we focus on delivering results!"

⚡️🇺🇸🇷🇺 Politico reports that U.S. senators are considering a comprehensive bipartisan sanctions bill targeting Russia and its largest energy customers, notably China and India.

The proposed legislation, known as the Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025, includes a 500% tariff on imports from nations purchasing Russian oil, natural gas, or uranium. With backing from 81 senators across party lines, the bill aims to intensify pressure on Russia's wartime economy.

Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal are leading the initiative, citing recent Ukrainian drone strikes deep inside Russia as evidence of Ukraine’s strategic capability and determination. The bill's progression, however, hinges on President Donald Trump's support, whose stance remains uncertain.

🇰🇭🇹🇭 Cambodia has launched a bold three-pronged strategy—military buildup, symbolic leadership, and limited diplomacy—along the Thai border, exploiting Thailand’s fragmented security response. With tanks, missiles, and political gestures, Cambodia is asserting territorial claims while Thailand faces internal disarray. Experts warn that inaction could embolden further aggression and undermine regional stability.

🇺🇸🇨🇳 America Let Its Military-Industrial Might Wither. China’s Is Booming.

The U.S. won World War II in part by producing more of everything—from bullets to food—than its enemies. One California shipyard in 1942 assembled a supply ship in less than five days. America is no longer capable of that kind of manufacturing feat.

Today, the country that can make the most of almost everything is China. Its products run the gamut from basic chemicals to advanced machinery. With tensions rising between the U.S. and China, the two countries’ industrial capacity is coming into focus as a key battleground in any conflict.
