🇨🇳 China is beating the rest of the world *combined* in robotization.

🔶️ "According to the 2023 World Robotics Report by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), China now accounts for 52% of annual industrial robot installations as it successfully installed 290,258 robots last year."

🔶️ "China has increased its annual industrial robot installations by more than a factor of 12 since 2012 and has doubled its yearly installations in only the last 3 years."

🔶️ "VDMA projects that China has shot past Germany in robot density per 10,000 manufacturing workers this year, making it now the third most robotized manufacturing power in the world, behind only Japan (2nd) and south Korea (1st)."

🔶️ "This comes as China seeks to upgrade its manufacturing industry to produce high-value added goods on par with its most advanced industrial rivals, diverting credit away from Real Estate and into the Industrial Sector at an unprecedented scale and speed. It has already become the world’s largest exporter of cars, powered by electric vehicle growth."

🔶️ "China intends nothing less than to become a high-complexity manufacturing economy like Germany, Japan and south Korea but with more than 6 times their combined population. It already accounts for 30% of the world’s value-added manufacturing beating the combined and declining shares of the EU and the US (both at 15%) as well as Japan’s declining 8% and India’s stagnant 3%."

🔶️ "China is now poised to overtake the entire world combined in value-added manufacturing, powered primarily by high-complexity, high-value added manufacturing."

It is official, Javier Milei is the president of the Argentine nation.

Extraordinary sessions will be called for congress tomorrow where a series of emergency bill packages will be introduced, there has been a significant political back and forth with negotiations in anticipation of tomorrow's bills, this first week will be critical to see the government that began today, it's supposed to be the largest state reform since the Argentine Junta ended.

These reforms include shrinking the state, massively shrinking all the ministries, remove over 60 thousand regulations directly with an impact on over 300 thousand regulations, the removal of the PASO primaries, privatization of multiple state agencies, the removal of all the people hired by the state during 2023 amongst other things.

Now remains to be seen if they have the votes, especially in the tightly contested Senate.

May God bless Argentina and the Argentine people.

Javier Milei warned that if the adjustment he proposes is not made, Argentina will be like "the darkness of the Venezuela of Chávez and Maduro"
Archaeologists have uncovered evidence of what may be the world's oldest fortified site in a remote region of Siberia, according to a study.

A team of researchers investigated a western Siberia site known as Amnya that is regarded as the northernmost known Stone Age fortification in Eurasia. The prehistoric fortified settlement is one of several in the region—featuring palisades, banks and ditches—that experts had generally assumed to be too advanced to have been built by hunter-gatherers and therefore no more than a few thousand years old.

But the latest study, published in the journal Antiquity, has revealed that the earliest parts of Amnya were likely constructed around 8,000 years ago, when people in the region still sustained themselves by hunting, gathering and fishing

🇮🇷 🇷🇺 🇺🇦 Iran has officially presented a new version of its notorious Shahed ‘kamikaze drone,’ now powered by a jet engine rather than the previous piston-propeller arrangement. The Shahed-238 was also shown with new guidance systems, with radar and electro-optical/infrared guidance now apparently being offered in addition to earlier Shahed versions, which primarily employed a combination of inertial and GPS navigation to hit fixed targets.

🔶️ "Developed on the basis of the Shahed-136 drone, which has been widely employed by Russia in Ukraine, three examples of the Shahed-238 were on display, representing the three different guidance options. One of these is thought to feature an anti-radiation seeker. Although this remains unconfirmed, a similar seeker is thought to be available for the Shahed-136. If correct, this version of the Shahed-238 would be intended to home in on hostile radio-frequency transmitters, especially air defense radars, allowing it to be used for the suppression/destruction of enemy air defenses (SEAD/DEAD) missions."

🔶️ "The jet-powered Shahed-238 will also be more expensive than piston-engine versions. The low price point of these drones has always been an advantage. For example, a Shahed-136 about $20,000 a piece to make, The New York Times has stated. Meanwhile, a single AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) fired by one of Ukraine’s National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS) that have shot down plenty of Shaheds costs roughly between $500,000 and $1 million."

🔶️ "Even if the price of the Shahed-238 is hiked up, it will still be far cheaper than a cruise missile, and would also be affordable enough to allow mass attacks on its chosen targets."

🔥 🌍 🇺🇸 An authoritative new study finds there are 183 regional and local conflicts underway in 2023, the highest number in three decades.

⬛️ Opinion - It’s not just Ukraine and Gaza: war is on the rise everywhere - Max Hastings

🔶️ overwhelm Ukraine is only the most devastating. Azerbaijan has seized the Nagorno-Karabakh region, precipitating the flight of more than 100,000 of its Armenian inhabitants. Tensions persist between Russia and Georgia, and are worse than in ever in modern times between Algeria and Morocco. In Pakistan, domestic terrorism has escalated, and stresses in relations with India’s anti-Muslim government are running dangerously high.

🔶️ The intensity of conflict has risen year on year, with fatalities increasing by 14% and violent events by 28% in the latest survey. The authors describe a world “dominated by increasingly intractable conflicts and armed violence amid a proliferation of actors, complex and overlapping motives, global influences and accelerating climate change.”

🔶️ The International Committee of the Red Cross catalogues 459 armed groups whose activities provoke humanitarian concerns, with 195 million people living under their full or partial control. Four-fifths of these groups possess sufficient local or regional dominance to levy taxes and provide some measure of public services. The writ of recognized national governments does not extend over significant areas of the global landmass.

🇪🇺 The latest GDP figures show that the eurozone contracted in the third quarter and looks like it will do the same in the last three months of the year falling into a continent-wide recession.

“Final figures confirmed eurozone GDP contracted 0.1% in the third quarter. What's more, the detailed breakdown showed the European economy has no engines of growth at the moment. Although private consumption posted a small gain over the previous quarter, the near-term outlook still looks dire, and with both investment and exports unlikely to provide much momentum, the economy looks set to slide into recession in the fourth quarter,”

The boomerang effect of sanctions on Russia and the ongoing polycrisis is now hurting Europe more than Russia. After Russia put in a surprisingly good year and managed to dodge most of the ill-effects of the extreme sanctions imposed on it following the invasion of Ukraine last year. Russia is now the biggest and fastest growing economy in Europe (in PPP) boasted Putin.

🇨🇳 China poised to break 5nm barrier — Huawei lists 5nm processor presumably built with SMIC tech, defying U.S. sanctions

🔶️ This year, SMIC shocked the world after it began mass production of Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 9000S processor using its second-gen 7nm process technology. But the company seems to have at least one more trick up its sleeve: a 5nm fabrication process that is either already in use for high-volume manufacturing (HVM) or is in the final stages of its development. In fact, Huawei now lists a chip made on a 5nm-class process node — an eight-core Arm-based HiSilicon Kirin 9000C processor with Arm Mali-G78 graphics for laptops — on its website.

🔶️ It isn't entirely surprising that SMIC could have broken through the 5nm barrier, as persistent industry chatter has indicated the foundry is close to further exceeding the limits imposed by US sanctions. "SMIC is preparing a 5nm process through DUV, and photomask usage is expected to increase further," an expert in the semiconductor industry recently told The Elec.

🇪🇺🇷🇺 EU nears deal on 12th Russia sanctions package, softens tanker sale ban - sources

European Union countries are close to agreeing a deal on a proposed 12th package of sanctions on Russia focused on a Russia-origin diamond ban and new measures to stem the flow of Russian oil, according to four people familiar with the matter.

While the biggest part of the new measures is the ban on non-industrial Russian diamonds, EU countries have also been looking to make it harder to circumvent existing sanctions, including the G7 oil price cap.

The text includes tougher measures on how to prove Russian oil is traded under the ceiling as compliance has waned in recent months.

However, one element aimed at preventing Russia from growing its so-called "shadow fleet" has been watered down.

The Commission initially wanted to ban the sale of old tankers to Russian entities or for their use in Russia as well as to entities that might may use the tankers to circumvent the G7 oil price cap but this clause has been dropped. One of the sources said Mediterranean countries with strong shipping companies were concerned the measures could put them at a competitive disadvantage.
