🇺🇸 - President Trump announces that he will oppose any Republican that does not vote for his rescissions bill, which would defund billions from NPR, PBS and various USAID-administered overseas humanitarian projects.
Senate holdouts include Susan Collins (R-ME), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Thom Tillis (R-NC), who have all expressed concern over funding to public media and global health programs being rescinded through this measure.
Although some were citing
impacts to soft power, the reluctance seems to be over PEPFAR, a global HIV program that has historically had Republican support and was signed into existence under President Bush.
The Trump Administration argues that the program’s funding has been wastefully spent, citing millions of U.S. dollars traced to foreign prostitution rings, LGBT support programs, adult male circumcision initiatives, and leftist non-governmental organizations.
The Senate has until July 18th to approve the bill, but it remains held up in committee.

🇺🇸 - Jerome Powell is reportedly considering resigning his Chairmanship at the Federal Reserve.
This directly follows a letter sent by the White House yesterday which accused him of exorbitantly using funds for the Fed building’s renovation for luxury developments, and subsequently breaking the law by misreporting the facts of that renovation to Congress.
It also comes after months of criticism by President Trump against Powell’s reluctance to lower rates while inflation subsides.

In a statement to Air & Space Forces Magazine, Pentagon Chief Spokesman Sean Parnell stated, “One Iranian ballistic missile impacted Al Udeid Air Base on June 23 while the remainder of the missiles were intercepted by U.S. and Qatari air defense systems. The impact did minimal damage to equipment and structures on the base — there were no injuries. Al Udeid Air Base remains fully operational and capable of conducting its mission, alongside our Qatari partners, to provide security and stability in the region.”
Today’s confirmation comes amidst the release of several satellite images over the last week by Iran International and the Associated Press, showing significant damage to a radome and a number of nearby buildings at Al Udeid, with the radome said to have housed a $15 million communication suite known as the Modernization Enterprise Terminal (MET).
While not directly denying an impact, U.S. officials in the days and weeks after clearly attempted to downplay the Iranian attack, likely in an effort to not disrupt the swift ceasefire between Israel and Iran that was signed almost immediately following the attack against Al Udeid. In a social media post on June 23, U.S. President Trump stated that 13 of 14 ballistic missiles were intercepted in the Iranian attack on Al Udeid, with one missile being “set free” because it was deemed not to be a threat, with this likely being the missile that struck the radome at the base. Additionally, during a press briefing at the Pentagon on June 26, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Dan Caine said there were “reports of something getting through,” but he refused to elaborate at the time about what that meant, or if there was any damage to Al Udeid.

the defense of al Udeid depleted somewhere between 30-50 patriot interceptor missiles from the americans alone, the single largest PAC volley in US history. https://x.com/bonzerbarry/status/1937190004788216227

🇺🇸🇨🇦 Trump puts 35% tariff on Canada, eyes 15%-20% tariffs for others
U.S. President Donald Trump ramped up his tariff assault on Canada on Thursday, saying the U.S. would impose a 35% tariff on imports next month and planned to impose blanket tariffs of 15% or 20% on most other trading partners.
In a letter released on his social media platform, Trump told Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney the new rate would go into effect on August 1 and would go up if Canada retaliated.
The 35% tariff is an increase from the current 25% rate that Trump had assigned to Canada and is a blow to Carney, who was seeking to agree a trade pact with Washington.

The officials did not say how many surface-to-air missiles, or SAMs, Iran had received from China since the end of the fighting. However, one of the Arab officials said that Iran was paying for the SAMs with oil shipments.
"Iran has taken possession of Chinese surface-to-air missile batteries as Tehran rapidly moves to rebuild defensives destroyed by Israel during their recent 12-day conflict, sources have told Middle East Eye.
The deliveries of Chinese surface-to-air missile batteries occurred after a de-facto truce was struck between Iran and Israel on 24 June, an Arab official familiar with the intelligence told MEE.
Another Arab official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive intelligence, said that the US's Arab allies were aware of Tehran's efforts to "back up and reinforce" its air defences and that the White House had been informed of Iran's progress."

U.S. President Donald Trump is seriously weighing the introduction of tough secondary sanctions against countries that continue to trade oil with Russia — including China, India, and Turkey. The plan involves supporting a bill that would impose a 500% tariff on imports from Russia, effectively amounting to a global oil embargo.
According to The Times, this shift in Trump’s stance is driven by his growing frustration with Vladimir Putin’s refusal to engage in peace talks and continued strikes on civilian targets in Ukraine. Trump had previously called the bill “too harsh,” but now says he is “studying it carefully.”
The outlet notes that the key concern is the risk of economic fallout. The White House wants to ensure that the power to lift sanctions remains with the president, while Congress is pushing for more oversight. Analysts believe that even partial implementation of the measures could significantly damage the Russian economy.

📹 Metadata Shows the FBI’s ‘Raw’ Jeffrey Epstein Prison Video Was Likely Modified
Metadata embedded in the video and analyzed by WIRED and independent video forensics experts shows that rather than being a direct export from the prison’s surveillance system, the footage was modified, likely using the professional editing tool Adobe Premiere Pro. The file appears to have been assembled from at least two source clips, saved multiple times, exported, and then uploaded to the DOJ’s website, where it was presented as “raw” footage.

There is no evidence the footage was deceptively manipulated, but ambiguities around how the video was processed may further fuel conspiracy theories about Epstein’s death.

France’s Parliament has just produced an extraordinary 153-page report that calls for nothing less than a complete strategic realignment of Europe.
The document systematically dismantles the EU's current geopolitical positioning - "vassalized" to the U.S., in the report's words - as a catastrophic failure that has led to the EU seeing "its influence diminish and its interests poorly protected."
The report details 50 recommendations from the "creation of a common world currency" (recommendation #14) to dedollarize the global economy, to "replacing the EU's strategy in the Indo-Pacific region with a cooperative approach including China" (recommendation #11).
In general the report's central recommendation is that Europe break free from Atlantic subordination and instead achieve strategic autonomy by partnering with China.
This would mark a complete historical reversal - for the first time since the colonial era, the historical West choosing equal strategic partnership with a Global South nation as an alternative to Western alliance structures.
The report (which you can find here: https://assemblee-nationale.fr/dyn/17/rapports/due/l17b1588_rapport-information.pdf) is in French so I wrote a detailed article breaking down its most explosive findings and recommendations, an explaining why this could be its last chance to avoid irrelevance in a multipolar world.

We're gonna see what we will see tomorrow.
I am very disappointed with President Putin. I thought he was somebody that meant what he said.
And he'll talk so beautifully, and then he'll bomb people at night. We don't like that.
