1. The EU auto industry may have to shut down because of Nexperia shortages.

2. Nexperia is the Chinese chip company which the Netherlands just seized.

3. China is banning the export of components to Nexperia.

The chickens are coming home to roost in the globalized EU. Their supply chain depends on China, which is very bad for their national security (duh). The Chinese company in Europe, that the Dutch just seized, evidently relies on components from China.

So, China no longer ships the components, the company that the Dutch took over can no longer deliver products, and the EU is in big trouble.

The timing is a bit unclear here between whether China stopped exporting components first,

and the Dutch government seized their company in response, or whether the Dutch grabbed the company first, and the Chinese responded by cutting off supplies.

Either way, we're in a new world, with new rules, and it's moving with breakneck speed.
