"Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang declared Sunday that the nation was at the beginning of a new artificial-intelligence-powered "industrial revolution," praising President Donald Trump's tariffs and desire to "reindustrialize the United States."
Nvidia, the world's leading maker of semiconductors and a titan in the AI space, announced last week that in partnership with semiconductor giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC), it had made the first Blackwell wafer in the United States. The wafer is the base material for one of the organization's historically advanced AI chips.
"This last week was a historic week," Huang said on "The Sunday Briefing." "We manufactured the most advanced AI chips in the world, in the most advanced fab in the world, here in America for the first time. All of this started with President Trump wanting to reindustrialize the United States. His tariffs were a pressing agent in making this possible at the speed that we’re doing, and now just shortly after less than a year, we’re now manufacturing the most advanced chips for AI here in the United States. This is just the beginning of it."

"European Union energy ministers think they'll be able to phase out the import of Russian gas by 2028, and have backed a proposal that would begin the process by phasing out the contracts themselves for both pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) by Jan. 1, 2026.
Current agreements may continue until June 17, 2026, while long-term contracts may would be cut off on Jan. 1, 2028.
That said, landlocked members states (Hungary, Slovakia) which have limited alternatives to Russia would be afforded some flexibility.
If the proposed regulations are backed by the European Parliament, it would require member states to submit plans for how they will diversify their energy supplies if they're currently receiving (directly or indirectly) gas from Russia.
(...)
That said, Europe has already significantly cut back on Russian gas;
Between Q1 2021 and Q2 2025, the EU-27 reduced Russian oil imports by more than 90 percent, cutting the share of Russian oil in total extra-EU imports from 29 percent to less than 2 percent. During the same period, Russia’s share of the EU’s natural gas imports dropped from 39 to 13 percent, driven mainly by a 52-percent reduction of natural gas imports in gaseous state. The value of liquefied natural gas imports from Russia actually almost tripled between Q1 2021 and Q2 2025 but still accounted for a smaller share of the EU’s total LNG imports in the most recent quarter. This is due to total LNG imports more than quadrupling during this period, as the EU replaced Russian pipeline gas with LNG from suppliers like the United States, Qatar and Norway.

"President Donald Trump and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese signed a minerals deal on Monday at the White House to expand America's rare earth supply and diversify away from China's dominance in critical minerals used in EVs, semiconductors, and defense weapons. Beijing's weaponization of rare earth shipments (read Goldman's latest brief) to gain leverage over President Trump in trade negotiations underscores the urgency of diversification.
"In about a year from now, we'll have so much critical minerals and rare earths that you won't know what to do with them," President Trump said at the White House on Monday with PM Albanese.
PM Albanese told the press that the U.S. and Australia will each invest over $1 billion within six months, targeting an $8.5 billion pipeline of joint mining and processing projects.
He noted that Australia has an $8.5 billion "pipeline that we have ready to go."

"European nations are working with Ukraine on a 12-point proposal to end Russia’s war along current battle lines, pushing back against Vladimir Putin’s renewed demands to the US for Kyiv to surrender territory in return for a peace deal.
A peace board chaired by US President Donald Trump would oversee implementation of the proposed plan, according to people familiar with the matter.
Once Russia follows Ukraine in agreeing to a ceasefire and both sides commit to halting territorial advances, the proposals envisage the return of all deported children to Ukraine and exchanges of prisoners. Ukraine would receive security guarantees, funds to repair war damage and a pathway to rapidly join the European Union.
Sanctions on Russia would gradually be lifted though some $300 billion in frozen central bank reserves would only be returned once Moscow agrees to contribute toward Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. The restrictions would snap back if Russia attacked its neighbor again.
Moscow and Kyiv would enter into negotiations on the governance of occupied territories, though neither Europe nor Ukraine will legally recognize any occupied land as Russian, the people said."

"Donald Trump no longer plans to meet Vladimir Putin in Hungary, the White House confirmed.
The US president will not meet the Russian leader in the “immediate future” after a phone call between negotiators to prepare for peace talks turned sour.
On Thursday, Mr Trump announced he would hold a second summit with Putin in Budapest after a two-hour phone call with the Russian yielded “great progress”.
However, preparations for a summit between the two leaders stalled when Moscow cancelled an in-person preparatory meeting between Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, and Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state.
Mr Trump wanted officials from each side to convene in Hungary to prepare for his summit with Putin.
Mr Lavrov and Mr Rubio spoke by phone on Monday. According to reports, the call did not go well.
Mr Lavrov is believed to have told Mr Rubio that Russia would not accept freezing the frontline in Ukraine in the tense phone call."

Today, it’s becoming Europe’s smartest lifestyle arbitrage. Coastal towns priced like Eastern Europe now offer fiber internet, safety, an unbeatable climate & culture.
Tax incentives seal the deal: under 10% for professionals with the impatriati regime, 7% for retirees in small villages. It’s where a freelancer can live elegantly at half the cost of Lisbon.
If Portugal has been the nomad hotspot by definition from the 2010s to nowadays, Southern Italy might define the 2030s. The mix of lifestyle, affordability, and policy is aligning.
And it’s poetic, too. The region once known for emigration could soon attract a new wave, digital settlers bringing talent and capital back south. It won't be frictionless, but it may end up working.
