💬 The state’s Secretary of Public Security, Felipe Curi, emphasized that the deaths occurred because the suspects resisted arrest. “Had they not reacted, they would have been arrested in the act for the crimes they were committing, including possession of firearms and explosives, attempted murder against officers, and participation in a criminal organization,” he stated.

Israel’s National Security Committee has approved a bill mandating the death penalty for any Palestinian convicted of killing an Israeli, clearing it for a first Knesset vote. The bill bans commutation of the sentence.
Netanyahu’s “hostage coordinator” Gal Hirsch reversed his opposition, saying “the reality has changed” after captives were freed; he had earlier warned it could endanger their lives.
It also lowers the judicial threshold for execution, allowing death sentences by simple majority, not requiring unanimity. Israeli military courts already convict some 99.7% of Palestinians they try.
The bill now heads to the Knesset plenum for its first reading, expected as soon as Wednesday. If it passes, only one more vote would be required for it to become law.

Al Qaeda militants are moving closer to seizing the capital of the West African nation of Mali, which, should the city fall, would become the first country in the world run by the U.S.-designated terrorist group
The rapid advance of the jihadists in Africa comes after Islamist groups took power in both Afghanistan and Syria, but, if they take Bamako, it would be the first time militants with direct and current connections to al Qaeda achieve such a feat.

Confirmed (Nov 2): NAS Roosevelt Roads remains the primary staging point for high-value US air assets in the Southern Caribbean.
Imagery confirms a high-tempo air presence:
➡️Fighters: 8x F-35 Lightning II fighters are visible on the apron, maintaining forward deterrence.
➡️Logistics Engine: Present are 2x C-17 Globemaster transports (one appearing to taxi for takeoff) and 1x KC-130 (likely Ghostrider or a refueling asset). This shows robust logistical muscle is actively at work.
The Forecast: With Carrier Strike Group 12 (USS Gerald R. Ford) transiting STROG westbound this morning, this concentration of air assets and logistical power at Ceiba suggests the region is preparing for a major surge in military activity.
Will the Ford's arrival signal the beginning of a sustained, high-end, air-and-sea command operation in the Southern Caribbean?

In traveled over 200 miles in the past 17 hours, going at 16 knots. While not the top speed, it is clear that the USS Gerald R. Ford is moving towards the Caribbean, with the possibility of going even faster. It will reach the theater by the end of the week.

Since the shutdown began on October 1st, the US government has borrowed $600 BILLION worth of debt.
That's +$17 billion PER DAY.
Today marks day 35 of the 2025 US government shutdown.
This ties the longest shutdown in history seen during President Trump's 1st term, in December 2018.
Historically speaking, the average length of a shutdown is 8 days.
The current shutdown is now 4.5 TIMES longer.
And, the end appears to be distant at best.
Currently, markets see the US government shutdown lasting until December 1st, per Polymarket.
This would mark a 61 day government shutdown, or 26 days LONGER than the current record.
The economic implications are spreading.
Since October 1st, 3.2 MILLION US airline passengers have been impacted by delays or cancellations.
With the shutdown expected to last through Thanksgiving, ~3.5 million delays/cancellations are expected in Thanksgiving week.
Disruptions may exceed 10 million by December 1st.
Since the shutdown began, federal unemployment claims have skyrocketed.
The number of federal employees filing for unemployment has jumped +1,200% since the shutdown began on October 1st.
This officially marks the highest number of federal unemployment claims since 2018.
In a report provided to The Kobeissi Letter by the Congressional Budget Office, the shutdown will now:
1. Reduce Q4 GDP by up to 200 bps
2. Erase -$39B from economy
3. Delay up to $48B worth of payments
4. Delay $23B in paychecks for Federal workers
The shutdown must end.

The House of Representatives will thus reunite on November 17th at the earliest but it is possible that the shutdown may continue and extend over the Thanksgiving break and open in December.
It is unlikely that the U.S. government will be restarted in November and that SNAP benefits will be resumed.

"So if, if you bring us to a week from today, Democrats, you will see mass chaos," he said. "You will see mass flight delays. You'll see mass cancelations, and you may see us close certain parts of the airspace, because we just cannot manage it because we don't have the air traffic controllers."
Nearly 50% of all major air traffic control facilities face staffing shortages, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Air traffic controllers are required to work without pay for the duration of the shutdown.
About 13,000 air traffic controllers are currently working without pay, according to the FAA. On Friday, the agency said that 80% of New York area staff had called out.
"These hard-working Americans have bills to pay, and they are being forced to make decisions and choices," Duffy said Monday of air traffic controllers at an unrelated event in Philadelphia. "Do they go to work as an air traffic controller, or do they have to find a different job to get resources, money, to put food on their table, to put gas in their car? And as every day goes by, I think the problem is only going to get worse, not better."
Duffy said last month that air traffic controllers could be let go if they didn't show up for work.
"When you come to work, you get paid," Duffy said Oct. 9 in remarks on Fox Business’ "Varney & Co." "If you don't come to work, you don't get paid. ... If we have some on our staff that aren't dedicated, we're going to let them go."
But the transportation secretary softened that stance over the weekend, telling CBS' "Face the Nation" that he would not fire any air traffic controllers for not showing up to work.
"They need support, they need money, they need a paycheck. They don't need to be fired," he said.
