🇪🇺 Rector of the College of Europe, Federica Mogherini and Director-General of the European Commission for the Middle East, North Africa and Gulf countries, Stefanno Sannino, resigned from their positions after being accused of misuse of EU funds!

Mogherini, prior to her appointment as rector of the EU's diplomacy school, was the vice-president of the Juncker Commission and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

The accusations concern procurement fraud, corruption, conflict of interest and violation of professional secrecy.

The high-profile nature of the scandal has caused the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen and the top EU diplomat, Kaja Kallas, to distance themselves from the people accused even though they were the supervisors meant to prevent such things from happening.

The EU's newspapers, POLITICO and Euractiv, are already in damage control mode, warning readers to not discuss and not draw conclusions from this story because it "proves the extremists right" about the EU being a body corrupt to the bone and incapable of policing itself.
