🦗 French insect farming company, Ynsect, was liquidated and had its assets sold to creditors in late 2025.

Despite receiving hundreds of millions of Euros from Paris and Brussels to establish itself on the foods market with agrifood products meant for human and animal consumption (fodder), Ynsect could not turn a profit.

The insects were too expensive to soybeans for animal feed but while it could technically break even in the household pet food market, the company wasted its cash on building a giant bug farm in northern France before anyone placed an order.

In January 2025, Ursula von der Leyen had signed a regulation making it mandatory across the EU for bakeries to be allowed to use insects as ingredients when making bread, cakes and pastry.

This is part of the European Commission and Ursula von der Leyen's goal of reducing meat consumption among the population of the EU because cows and pigs fart and their farts contain methane which is a greenhouse gas and too many cow farts will lead to the apocalypse.
