The official Nuevas Ideas party confirmed that the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, will again appear in the general elections next year.
The postulation is surrounded by a strong controversy due to its legality, since the Constitution of the South American country expressly prohibits its reelection, but the magistrates –whose designation was facilitated by the official party– issued a resolution that enables Bukele to appear.
Bukele's victory is expected in 99% of local polls, even with right-wing and left-wing parties uniting against the popular leader.
