🔶️ The Civil Administration, which manages civilian affairs in the West Bank, has declared 2,965 acres of land in the Jordan Valley region to be state land, meaning it is fit for future development.
🔶️ According to the Peace Now organization, which campaigns against the West Bank settlements, this is the largest designation of state land since the Oslo Accords in 1993, and follows other large designations of state land including 1,976 acres also in the Jordan Valley in March, 650 acres east of Jerusalem in February, and 42 acres in the Etzion Bloc.
🔶️ The new declaration involves land some 50 kilometers north of Jericho, immediately adjacent to the 1,976 acres of state land designated in March.
⚡️ The amount of land declared to be state land in 2024, some 5,852 acres as of July, far outstrips any other year this century. The highest previous total was 1,181 acres in 2014.

🇩🇪 Germany to Have First Onshore LNG Terminal by 2027
The construction of Germany's first onshore terminal to regasify liquefied natural gas has begun.
The facility, with an annual capacity of 13.3 billion cubic meters, is expected to be operational by 2027, according to project developer Hanseatic Energy Hub. The terminal will be located on the Elbe River, near Hamburg, and will include two reservoirs of 240 thousand cubic meters each, making them the largest in Europe.
The first clients of the terminal are already confirmed: German companies EnBW and SEFE, which have booked capacities of 4 and 6 billion cubic meters, respectively. Another 2 billion cubic meters is claimed by Czech company CEZ.
Total investments in the terminal are estimated at about 1.6 billion euros, with 1 billion euros directly allocated for construction.

Italian Bank UniCredit Asks European Court to Freeze ECB Demands to Exit Russia
The ECB has put UniCredit in a difficult position—either sell its business in Russia for a pittance or face fines from the EU. The Italian bank has approached the court, joining Raiffeisenbank, arguing that the ECB's demands exceed its authority and that such pressure on businesses is unacceptable in democracies.
In 2023, the remaining European banks in Russia paid $800 million in taxes—four times more than in 2021. As a result, the ECB is pressuring them to leave the market. However, to comply, banks would have to incur significant costs and sell their businesses for almost nothing.

“If Trump knows how to finish this war, he should tell us today,” Zelenskiy said in a Bloomberg Television interview in Kyiv on Wednesday. “If there are risks to Ukrainian independence, if we lose statehood – we want to be ready for this, we want to know.”
The former US president, who leads in polls over President Joe Biden ahead of the November election, has boasted that he’ll end the war by the time he’s inaugurated in January. In the televised debate last week, Trump decried the billions of dollars spent on Ukraine’s defense, saying that Kyiv is “not winning the war.”

Putin and Xi meet at Central Asian summit in show of deepening ties
"In their second face-to-face meeting in as many months, Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping that "Russian-Chinese relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation are in the best period of their history." Russian state media subsequently likened it to a golden age in relations.
The two are meeting once again at the annual session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which runs Wednesday through Thursday in the Kazakh capital of Astana. "Russia-China relations are on the highest level in history, and they are not aimed against anyone, we do not create blocs or unions, we just act in the interests of our nations," Putin stressed.
And Xi told Putin in brief opening remarks, "In the face of the turbulent international situation and external environment, the two sides should continue to uphold the original aspiration of friendship for generations to come."
