HIVE Digital meets with Paraguayan president to spearhead major mining growth amidst industry challenges.
In a July 22 statement, Bitcoin miner HIVE Digital said it plans to construct a 100-megawatt digital asset mining operation in Paraguay.
The move comes amid the South American country’s plans to increase electricity prices. Local Bitcoin miners believe the hike could severely affect the industry and are pushing against the government’s plan.
HIVE’s Paraguay expansion
HIVE said its planned expansion in Paraguay would add 6.5 exahash per second (EH/s) to its Bitcoin mining operations, bringing its global EH/s to 12.1 EH/s.

☢️ 🇨🇳 Chinese nuclear reactor is completely meltdown-proof
🔶️ The first ever full-scale demonstration of a nuclear reactor designed to passively cool itself in an emergency was a success, showing that it should be possible to build nuclear plants without the risk of dangerous meltdown
🔶️ A large-scale nuclear power station in China is the first in the world to be completely impervious to dangerous meltdowns, even during a full loss of external power. The design can’t be adapted to existing nuclear reactors around the world, but could be a blueprint for future ones.
🔶️ A relatively new kind of reactor design, called a pebble-bed reactor (PBR), has the advantage of being passively safe, which means that if power for cooling systems is lost, then the reactor can safely shut down by itself. Rather than use highly energy-dense fuel rods like many other reactor designs, PBRs use a large number of low-energy-density “pebbles” as fuel, which contain a small amount of uranium surrounded by graphite. This can help slow the nuclear reaction and withstand high temperatures.

🏭 🇨🇳 🇺🇸 China’s leaders are steering the nation into a de facto “war economy” - with Chinese characteristics, of course. | Thomas Hon Wing Polin
🔶️ That means it can also serve the 1.4 billion Chinese well if war didn’t break out.
🔶️ For if war did erupt, “economic, tech and military power” would precisely be the priorities. And that’s exactly what the just-finished CPC Central Committee Third Plenum has ordered.
🔶️ Given the US Empire’s relentless besiegement and persecution since 2018, Beijing’s decision was almost unavoidable... and essential.
As Master Sunzi (Sun Tzu) advised

Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday. During my first term, we had Peace and Stability in the Region, even signing the historic Abraham Accords - And we will have it again.
Just as I have said in discussions with President Zelensky and other World Leaders in recent weeks, my PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH Agenda will demonstrate to the World that these horrible, deadly Wars, and violent Conflicts must end.
Millions are dying, and Kamala Harris is in no way capable of stopping it.

❄️ Days after Eduard Toll, Sibir assisted LNG carrier Christophe de Margerie followed by the next carrier, Fedor Litke. A fourth and fifth LNG tanker Boris Davydov and Nikolay Zubov are currently en route through the Arctic.
❄️ Russia’s Northern Sea Route provides for significant distance savings to Asia, especially compared to the ongoing detour via the Cape of Good Hope due to instability in the Red Sea. Voyages from Northern Europe to East Asia via the southern tip of Africa take at least 6 weeks, compared to 18 days or so via the Arctic.
❄️ Three Gabon-flagged Aframax tankers, Korolev Prospect, Vernadsky Prospect, and Olympic Prospect, received permits for the Arctic from Russian authorities last week. Each vessel can carry up to 800,000 barrels of crude.
❄️ A record-number of Arctic permits for LNG carriers, a total of 31 as of July 15, suggest the company is putting in place the logistics chain to begin deliveries this summer. Specific markets and customers remain uncertain due to Western sanctions affecting all aspects of the project though recent reporting indicates Novatek’s efforts to market its LNG to China’s domestic market.
❄️ In contrast to the usual practice of making the permit details publicly available for all vessels on the Northern Sea Route, the route’s administration has for the first time withheld information for a group of four LNG carriers: North Air, North Mountain, North Sky, and North Way.

🇺🇸 🇷🇺 🌐 Hyperborean Geostrategic Initiatives
🔶️ TGP: A few months back, the U.S. released the National Strategy for the Arctic Region (NSAR), a ten-year agenda updating its 2013 predecessor. Alongside this, the Administration brought out the Implementation Plan for the NSAR (NSARIP), outlining over 30 objectives and 200 actions. President Biden reiterated the U.S. commitment to deepen cooperation with Arctic allies and partners, particularly in managing risks related to militarization and unintended conflicts against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions with Russia and China. The United States continues to prioritize collaboration in the Arctic, building on its role in developing governance architecture.
🔶️ In short, the Arctic is set to witness new geopolitical shifts, worsened by the prolonged war in Ukraine. The U.S. sanctions targeting Russia’s Arctic LNG 2 project indicate a closely packed contest of economic and security interests in the region. The deepening collaboration between Russia and China in the Arctic may further disrupt the situation. With Finland and Sweden joining NATO, the U.S. bolsters its Arctic strategy and the High North has become a major terrain for strategic maneuverings.
🔶️ NATO's Arctic Command: A Case for the Expansion of NATO’s Mission in the High North - The alliance has directed increasing attention to the North Pole with joint military exercises such as Trident Juncture in 2018 and a Norwegian-sponsored operation in 2022, Cold Response. The addition of Sweden and Finland will only bolster the resources NATO has to dedicate to the Arctic issue. Danoy and Maddox, authors of a recent article compiled for NATOs 20/2020 review, discuss further expansion of the NATO footprint in the Arctic.
🔶️ US Claims Huge Chunk of Arctic Seabed Amid Strategic Push for Resources - The so-called Extended Continental Shelf covers about 1 million square kilometers (386,100 square miles), predominantly in the Arctic and Bering Sea, an area of increasing strategic importance where Canada and Russia also have claims. The US has also declared the shelf’s boundaries in the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf of Mexico.
🔶️ Houthis’ Red Sea blockade makes Northern Sea Route attractive to Global Shipping - The 5,600 km Northern Sea Route is the shortest maritime route between Europe and Asia, and can shave 8,000 km or more of distance, and 40-60 percent in time, off shipments, compared to traditional Europe-Asia routes through the presently troubled waters in the Middle East.
🔶️ Over 90 percent of all Europe-Asia traffic flows through cables in the Red Sea. - The Far North Fiber project is seeking to offer another option — a 14,500 kilometer cable linking Europe, North America and Asia.
