President Joe Biden's administration has not made an offer of amnesty to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to shield him from criminal prosecution in the United States in exchange for him giving up power since the South American country's July 28 election, the White House said on Monday.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that the United States in secret talks offered Maduro amnesty to cede power.
White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre during a briefing on Monday said only that there have been no offers since the election.

🇪🇺 LNG prices rise in Europe
Energy prices in Europe rose sharply amid concerns over Russian gas supplies via pipeline through Ukraine, adding to volatility in gas and power markets.
Gas futures are trading near their highest levels this year. Electricity prices in Germany and France have followed gas prices.
Market anxiety is high despite the fact that pipeline gas supplies from Russia continue through the Sudja metering station.
What is also important for EU energy balance – are extensive maintenance works that will begin at gas facilities in Norway later this month.
Europe's competition with Asia for LNG supplies could further tighten the market. LNG imports to Europe fell sharply in July, while Asia received the most monthly U.S. shipments since 2021, according to ship tracking data.
Lower LNG demand in Asia this month, due in part to lower temperatures and geopolitical risks in the Middle East, is changing the profitability of LNG transportation routes, "opening up the potential to divert more cargoes from the U.S. to Europe."
Competition for LNG remains fierce.
