🇪🇺❌🇺🇸 EU Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, warned Elon Musk ahead of his interview with former U.S. president, Donald Trump, on “making statements that amplify social tensions in the European Union”.

“As the relevant content is accessible to EU users and being amplified also in our jurisdiction, we cannot exclude potential spillovers in the EU,” Breton said in a statement posted on X.

Breton added that “any negative effect of illegal content” could lead the EU to take further action against X, using "our full toolbox, including by adopting interim measures, should it be warranted to protect EU citizens from harm."

It's in the context of that interview that Breton made his intervention, posting a link to the letter on X itself, with the caption: "With great audience comes greater responsibility #DSA."

"As there is a risk of amplification of potentially harmful content in [the European Union] in connection with events with major audience around the world, I sent this letter to Elon Musk”.

Responding to Breton, Musk tweeted out a meme containing the words: "Take a big step back and literally, fuck your own face!"

The suspect, a Ukrainian national, was named only as Volodymyr Z. for privacy reasons.

Poland confirmed it had received a European arrest warrant from Germany for a suspect in the 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

The Polish prosecutor's office said Volodymyr Z. could not be arrested as he left the country for Ukraine in early July.

Commissioner for the Internal Market and Emmanuel Macron’s man in Brussels, Thierry Breton, has been abandoned by his subordinates and colleagues after being accused of “election interference” by American netizens.

Loud, arrogant and willing to use his public image for political gain, Breton’s comments via social media have not always gone to plan. 

The Frenchman, for instance, did not inform Commission President Ursula von der Leyen about the public letter to Musk ahead of its publication on X, according to a Commission spokesman.

Four separate EU officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Breton’s warning to Musk had surprised many within the Commission.

“The EU is not in the business of electoral interference,” said one of those officials. “DSA implementation is too important to be misused by an attention-seeking politician in search of his next big job.”

Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, called Breton’s letter an unprecedented attempt to stretch a law intended to apply in Europe to political activities in the US."
Trump's supporters went a step further. The “European Union is attempting to meddle in the US Election,” Chris LaCivita, who is part of Trump’s presidential campaign, “They can all go to hell”.

It is well known in Brussels that Thierry Breton’s ambitions are high and that he has been dreaming of becoming the president of the European Commission one day.

🇩🇪🇺🇦 Germany's support for Ukraine will remain unchanged, regardless of the results of the investigations into the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipeline explosions.

This statement was made by German government spokesperson Wolfgang Büchner, as reported by the DPA news agency.

"These are two different matters that have no connection to each other," he said.

Earlier, German media reported that three Ukrainian citizens are suspects in the pipeline explosion case.
