🇰🇵📞❗️ — North Korean State Media, KCNA, reports that DPRK Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un held a major military meeting regarding topics of "National Defence and Security" with military and political leaders of the country, ahead of plans to destroy the Inter-Korean roads

🇰🇵📝 In Statement, the North Korean State Media said:

➡️ Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, convened a consultative meeting on national defence and security on Oct. 14.

➡️ Present there were No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, Jo Chun Ryong, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Ri Yong Gil, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Ri Chang Ho, deputy chief of the General Staff and director of the General Reconnaissance Bureau of the KPA, Ri Chang Dae, minister of State Security, and commanding officers of the Artillery Bureau, Detection and Electronic Warfare Bureau and other major bureaus of the KPA General Staff.

➡️ The meeting heard a report of the director of the General Reconnaissance Bureau on the general analysis of the case of enemy's serious provocation that violated the sovereignty of the DPRK, a report of the chief of the KPA General Staff on the military counteraction plan, a report of the minister of National Defence on the measures for modernizing weaponry, a report of the WPK secretary in charge of munitions industry on the production of weapons and equipment, and a report of the minister of State Security on the situation of intelligence operation.

➡️ Kim Jong Un made assessments and conclusions on the information and suggested measures specified in the reports of different defence and security organs.

➡️ After hearing a report on the relevant work done by the General Staff and the major combined units' combat readiness, he set forth the direction of immediate military action and indicated important tasks to be fulfilled in the operation of the war deterrent and the exercise of the right to self-defence for safeguarding the national sovereignty, security and interests.

➡️ He expressed a tough political and military stand of the WPK and the DPRK government at the consultative meeting.

🇰🇵❌🇰🇷 — South Korean media Yonhap News Agency reports, quoting ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff: North Korea blew up Gyeongui Line and Donghae Line inter-Korean connecting roads

➡️ In a text message sent to the Ministry of National Defense press corps that day, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said:

"North Korea blew up some sections north of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) on the Gyeongui Line and Donghae Line inter-Korean connecting roads around noon today,"

and

"Our military is strengthening its surveillance and alert posture."

➡️ North Korea's blasting of the Gyeongui Line and Donghae Line inter-Korean connecting roads is interpreted as an intention to completely cut off the inter-Korean land route and build fortifications.

➡️ Earlier, the North Korean military's General Staff Department announced in a press release on the 9th, "Starting on the 9th, we will completely cut off the roads and railroads in our area connected to South Korea and begin construction to fortify them with strong defensive structures."

➡️ On the same day, North Korea announced in a notice sent through the UN-North Korean military communication line, "Starting October 9, our side will carry out construction to completely cut off the roads and railroads in the eastern and western areas of the southern border that connected our area to South Korea."

➡️ Lee Seong-jun, director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Public Relations Office, said in a regular briefing the previous day, "We have identified that they have installed a barrier on the road and are preparing to blow up the road behind it."

➡️ Since the end of last year, North Korea has been carrying out minefields around roads, removing streetlights, removing railroad tracks, and demolishing adjacent auxiliary buildings in order to cut off land routes between the South and the North.

➡️ The land routes connecting the South and the North include the Donghae Line, Gyeongui Line, Arrowhead Hill, and the Joint Security Area (JSA) passageway, which are railways and roads.

➡️ According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, North Korea scattered leaf mines near the Gyeongui Line in November of last year, planted mines on the Donghae Line in December of the same year, removed the fence on the Donghae Line in March of this year, and removed streetlights on the Gyeongui Line in April.

🇨🇳❌🇹🇼 — Following the start of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) “Joint Sword-2024B” Military Exercises around the Taiwan Island, the Ministry of National Defense of ROC (Taiwan) reported a record number of PLA activity around the Island on the past day!

🇹🇼🪖 Ministry of Defense of Republic of China (Taiwan) on Twitter/X:

153 PLA aircraft, 14 PLAN vessels and 12 official ship operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 111 of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s western, southwestern and eastern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded.
