VACA MUERTA: PAMPA ENERGÍA TO INVEST U$S1.5 BILLION TO INCREASE OIL PRODUCTION 10-FOLD
Pampa Energía announced an investment of u$s1,500 million to develop its unconventional oil reserves in Vaca Muerta.
Before investors, Pampa's executives highlighted the progress in the development of shale oil in the Rincón de Aranda block and informed that it reached new highs in its gas production, mainly in the El Mangrullo and Sierra Chata fields.
"We have a planned investment of u$s700 million in Rincón de Aranda for 2025 and we plan to reach u$s1,500 million until 2027. Our goal is to increase our oil production tenfold and reach 50,000 barrels per day," said CEO Gustavo Mariani.
It is remarkable how in a context of historic production records, the people in charge of milking this cow insist that we haven't seen nothing yet!
This could mean more than energy independence for the "land of silver", this (if the trend and the hype continues) could mean a total shift on the Southern Cone's economic alignments.

EU officials have talked up the prospects of an agreement that would end the long-running dispute between Brussels and China over electric vehicles.
A team of EU trade officials have been in Beijing for the past week for what the European Commission has described as “intensive discussions with the Chinese ministry of commerce on a possible agreement on a price undertaking that would be an alternative to the countervailing duties currently in place for imports of battery electric vehicles from China.”
In a statement on Friday (8 November), the EU Commission said that there had been “technical progress on elements that will need to be addressed to ensure that a price undertaking would be equally effective and enforceable.”
“Parties discussed constructively and in depth how to establish a minimum import price for such a complex product, as well as tools to monitor and enforce the undertaking,” it added.
The EU’s tariffs, which range between 17 percent and 35.3 percent, on Chinese electric vehicles, came into force last week after the commission concluded that Beijing was unfairly subsidising its domestic industry in an attempt to undercut European manufacturers on price.
China has retorted by filing a formal complaint to the World Trade Organisation and by opening its own investigations into potential state aid abuses by the EU in the dairy and pork sectors, and imposing tariffs on EU brandy imports.
The row was also taken up at a meeting of the WTO’s Dispute Settlement Body on 28 October, where the EU and other western states accused China of decades of “large-scale state interventions” to unfairly support their industries.
At his European Parliament hearing on Monday, trade commissioner designate Maros Sefcovic promised to be tough on China’s trade policy, describing China as the bloc’s “most challenging trade partner”.

Highly controversial, non-transparent and rarely questioned: the Commission and Council of the European Union are currently preparing a new, EU-wide digital surveillance package. The plan includes the reintroduction and expansion of the retention of citizens’ communications data as well as specific proposals to undermine the secure encryption of data on all connected devices, ranging from cars to smartphones, as well as data processed by service providers and data in transit.
Behind closed doors the Commission has announced it is already preparing impact assessments and an implementation plan.
Former Pirate Party MEP and digital freedom fighter in the European Parliament Patrick Breyer comments:
“The plan is still widely unknown among citizens, journalists and politicians, even though we hold the documents in our hands and the extent of the plans is frightening. A number of questions remain unanswered.”
Open questions:
Who participated in the meetings of the EuGoingDark group and its sub-groups? Participant lists are still undisclosed. Mullvad VPN has reported that at least one former US secret service official has participated.
Why were digital rights NGOs such as EDRi not invited to the meetings of the working group even when the group‘s website says it is an “collaborative and inclusive platform for stakeholders from all relevant sectors“?
Why aren‘t the group and its sub-groups registered in the Register of Commission Expert Groups and other similar entities (i.e. consultative entities) which would provide for significantly more transparency?
How do the new EU Commissioners directly and indirectly involved in the issues concerned, the European Ombudsman, the data protection authorities of the EU and the member states, IT security experts, consumer protection organisations and others assess the working methods and plans of the EuGoingDark-group?

"After rejecting repeated proposals to release hostages, its leaders should no longer be welcome in the capitals of any American partner. We made that clear to Qatar following Hamas's rejection weeks ago of another hostage release proposal," the senior official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

After Hamas rejection of hostage deal, US asked Qatar to expel the group
Qatar, designated as a major non-NATO ally by Washington, has hosted Hamas' political leaders since 2012 as part of an agreement with the US.
Joined Senator Roger Wicker, Senator Jim Risch, & colleagues in sending a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Blinken and U.S. Attorney General Garland urging them to reverse their policies against Qatar.
It’s time to freeze the assets of Hamas terrorists living in Qatar & for Hamas leader Khaled Meshal to face justice.

🇨🇳🇺🇸 China congratulates Trump, says it respects America's choice
China's President Xi Jinping congratulated Donald Trump on his US presidential win and urged both nations to find the "right way to get along".
Stable, sound and sustainable China-US relations serve the interests of both, Xi said on Thursday, adding that the international community would expect the two powers to "respect each other (and) co-exist peacefully".
Xi's congratulatory message to Trump was more subdued than when the latter first won election in November 2016. At the time, Xi called for "greater progress in China-US relations from a new starting point", saying both economies should shoulder responsibilities in areas such as world peace and stability, global development and prosperity.

“I think, at the very least, we should choose to become omnivores. I don’t want to be aggressive, just that we know how to defend ourselves on all these subjects.”
“For me, it’s simple. The world is made up of herbivores and carnivores. If we decide to remain herbivores, then the carnivores will win and we will be a market for them,” he told European leaders during a gathering in Budapest.
I have no intention of leaving Europe as a stage inhabited by herbivores, only for carnivores to come and devour according to their agenda.
As Europeans, we must be clear-sighted, ambitious, and determined about our own agenda—an agenda of sovereignty.
