But it also means that we have to take action against possible threats. One of them is the collapse of the Separation of Forces Agreement from 1974 between Israel and Syria.
This agreement held for 50 years. Last night, it collapsed. The Syrian army abandoned its positions.

The Alawite minority, which supported the Assad family, will not be putting up resistance nor will it try to create an independent state on the Mediterranean coast.

Comment by Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov
We have carefully read the statement by US President-elect Donald Trump, made after his meeting with Macron and Zelensky in Paris.
President Putin has repeatedly said Russia was open to negotiations on Ukraine and welcomed peace initiatives, primarily those coming from countries of the Global South, as well as our BRICS partners, including China, Brazil, and South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, which are engaged in work on the humanitarian track.
Our stance on Ukraine is well known. The conditions required to cease the hostilities immediately were laid out by President Putin in June this year in his speech at Russia's Foreign Ministry.
What bears reminding here is that it was Ukraine that rejected negotiations, and the country still rejects them. Moreover, Zelensky has, by his own decree, banned himself and his presidential office from making any engagements with the Russian leadership. This particular stance of theirs remains unchanged. Yet, all Zelensky has to do to enter a trajectory of peace is to revoke this decree and issue an order to resume dialogue on the basis of arrangements made in Istanbul and with account taken of the realities taking shape on the ground.
As for the data on both sides' casualties, these were obviously presented in accordance with the Ukrainian narrative and reflect the official position of Ukraine. The actual casualty figures are completely different. Ukraine's casualties are many times higher than Russia's.
If such a casualty pace is maintained further, Ukraine's manpower will be completely depleted, and the country will have to lower the mobilization age to 18 years and step up the press-ganging practices. However, even all these measures will not change the catastrophic situation the Ukrainian forces are now finding themselves in. This is not news for Ukraine itself or for international observers.

Not to sound like one, but already sounding as one "I told you so"
At this point of history, one thing can easily be said:
➡️ All the repeated attempts to promote a Russo-Turkish Alliance since 2015 have been a complete failure by the Russian side.
➡️ Not only has Turkey been funding anti-Russian Fifth Columns in Central Asia, but it has now openly promoted anti-Russian movements and aligned itself entirely with openly Salafi-jihadist groups, such as Chechen terrorists, who singing "Soon, soon" say they will "re-establish Order in the Caucasus"
➡️ In the space of 4 years, Turkey has managed to compromise or even completely depose key allies for the Russian Soft Power strategy around the Russian Mir by taking advantage of the obvious weaknesses of such a strategy:
🇦🇲 Armenia, now aligning itself with the West
🇸🇾 Assad's Syria, now completely collapsed and deposed
🇹🇷 Marxist-Leninist Kurdish movements, which have their HQs in Russia, such as the PKK, are now diminished
🇱🇾 Haftar's Libyan National Army in Eastern Libya/Cyrenaica are countered
Now the Turkish sphere of influence is in the Middle East and will possibly expand to the Balkans, while the Russian sphere is limited to merely rogue states with low to no influence around the globe and the Central Asian republics. And Hungary, of course.
⁉️ Perhaps it is a good time for Russian foreign policy influencers to start realigning their vision towards a rational Pan-Slavism/Pan-Orthodoxism rather than an irrational Turkophile Eurasianism that will lead nowhere since the ethos and goals of both peoples are clearly differentiated.

Ukraine Firmly Rejects US Calls to Lower Connoscription Age To 18
"It doesn't make sense to see calls for Ukraine to lower the mobilisation age, presumably in order to draft more people, when we can see that previously announced equipment is not arriving on time. Because of these delays, Ukraine lacks weapons to equip already mobilized soldiers.
Partners have complete access to the data and can compare promises to actual deliveries. Ukraine cannot be expected to compensate for delays in logistics or hesitation in support with the youth of our men on the front-line."

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted dozens of precision airstrikes targeting known ISIS camps and operatives in central Syria, Dec. 8.
The strikes against the ISIS leaders, operatives, and camps were conducted as part of the ongoing mission to disrupt, degrade, and defeat ISIS, in order to prevent the terrorist group from conducting external operations and to ensure that ISIS does not seek to take advantage of the current situation to reconstitute in central Syria.
The operation struck over 75 targets using multiple U.S. Air Force assets, including B-52s, F-15s, and A-10s.
Battle damage assessments are underway, and there are no indications of civilian casualties.
CENTCOM, together with allies and partners in the region, will continue to carry out operations to degrade ISIS operational capabilities even during this dynamic period in Syria.
"There should be no doubt - we will not allow ISIS to reconstitute and take advantage of the current situation in Syria," said General Michael Erik Kurilla, "All organizations in Syria should know that we will hold them accountable if they partner with or support ISIS in any way."
