🇵🇾🤝🇮🇱 — Santiago Peña strengthens Paraguay's ties with Israel and will inaugurate the country's embassy in Jerusalem; Peña becomes the first Paraguayan president to deliver a speech in the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament.

❗️ The Paraguayan leader's visit marks a historic moment in relations between the two countries. Peña stated that the decision to relocate Paraguay's embassy back to Jerusalem reflects a "political and moral" commitment.

⚡️ The embassy transfer was one of Peña's campaign promises, reversing the decision of his predecessor, Mario Abdo Benítez, who in 2018 had moved the diplomatic headquarters to Tel Aviv. At the time, the move was justified as an effort to maintain neutrality in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. However, upon taking office, Peña reaffirmed his support for Israel, emphasizing that the partnership between the two nations is based on values of "friendship and hope."

💬 In addition to meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Peña addressed the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, where he reiterated Paraguay's solidarity with the Israeli people and called for the release of hostages still held by the Hamas terrorist group following the October 7, 2023 attacks.

🇪🇺 ECB Chief, Christine Lagarde, says that the situation in the Eurozone "can worsen if trade friction continues".

She further says that "political uncertainty" in the U.S. could further tank economic growth in the EU.

The ECB's most recent revision of GDP growth say:

2024 — 0.7%

2025 — 1.1%

2026 — 1.4%

The ECB is really worried about Donald Trump's tariffs and believes they will generate inflation at least on the short term.
